Good to see someone tackling the obesity epidemic ... My entry slightly rejigged as I wasn't happy with the wall poster ![]() _________________ I'm not really bad - I just draw that way |

Bonjour pour ce challenge, j'ai redécouvert le filtre point de fuite avec l'excellent livre "l'art du bluff avec Photoshop CS4". Merci google traduction pour le texte en allemand. ![]() |

Re: Challenge 329: The wurst is yet to come
There were two kinds of people entering the Challenge this week: those who thought the roof of the pink building was flat, and aligned artwork with it; and those who realised it was sloping, so aligned the top of their artwork with an imagined horizontal beneath it. And then there were those who realised it was sloping but recognised that the artwork looked odd if it wasn't aligned with the roof so aligned it anyway. Ok, three kinds of people. Either way, this was a tricky perspective to get right: if it was right, it looked wrong. Maybe the only solution would be to flatten the roof? Thanks to Daniel, by the way, for the real translation. The first entry this week came from Gerard, with a clever picture-in-picture regression of the image within the signs - I like the sentiments here. I also like the appearance of the image on the wide wall, complete with Photoshop tool panel - neatly slotted behind that fence, too. Nice work! I like Eggbox's new signs (not sure about the perspective on the upper one, but a great text). The real treat here is the HotChiPs poster being pressure-washed off the wall - especially the breeze block texture behind. Subtly altered real road signs from Josephine Harvatt - and utterly convincing the images are too. As a matter of interest, though, road signs are almost never set in all caps: it's much harder to read than upper and lower case. I like the Tom Smith poster - and a good stab at the top alignment. Excellent signs from tooquilos - I like the grubbiness of the sign backing, and the seven Von Trapps at the bottom. (As a matter of interest, picking Edelweiss really is illegal in Austria; the song Edelweiss was written especially for the film, despite George Bush thinking it was the Austrian national anthem and having it played for the Austria ambassador; and most Austrians have never seen the Sound of Music.) I like the animated version, especially the swinging beer stein - but that has to be the worst song in the world, surely. An entertaining Unfriendly Neighbourhood of the Year from Nick Curtain, certainly helped by that fine cutout fence in the foreground (good angle - not one of mine, though, is it?). I like the subtle placement of the car lifting machine, and the fact that the sign is just legible. Good work. An entertaining panto-based entry from puffin31939, with a great retro poster on the wall (nice ripping and tearing) and rather fine added snow. I like the new signs, but the white is just too white here: and the text, I think, could go a little larger within the space. I like the warnings! I'm not sure what micky47 is trying to get across - there do seem to be an awful lot of messages here. My favourite is the Existential Threat, but that yellow - it's far too saturated! You really need to tone that down if it's going to look like it belongs within this montage! Brewell's entry makes perfect sense of the bottom sign - a very neatly composed image, with subtle text. I like the addition of the S from the Skypark logo in the top sign, and the restrained size of the helicopter: it's always a temptation to make these elements much too big. This works beautifully. I liked Ben Mills's entry, with its new German signs ("Beware of pickpockets and women on the loose"). Is that the same as loose women? Or should we just not trust Babelfish, as you suggest? I really like the way the sign has been recomposed as a matchstick man, and the lifting of the car off its wheels... and the HotChiPS flag is a real bonus. Is there a purpose to the industrial mural, or is it just decorative? Neat new signs from Eva Roth - "motor vehicles must be lowered individually" and "Illegally parked vehicles will be towed away free of charge" - thanks, Google translation. The stack of cars fits perfectly behind the wall - but a shame you had to chop the top of the fence off. I loved laddition's Star Trek entry - especially the warning about passing Klingons. The lighting on the sign is excellent, it fits really well into this scene. And there's nothing wrong with being a geek, you know - the first step is to admit to it! A rather splendid avalanche from Jota120, which engulfs the background rather well. I like the upper yellow sign, but the lower one - Times Roman? For a warning sign? Really? A terrific anti-wurst montage from kitten, with great images - I like the woman being strangled by a string of sausages! When you place new graphic elements on the signs, though, change the mode from Normal to Multiply, then the white areas will become the same colour as the background of the signs. As it stands, they jump out rather too much. A great running wurst-holder in the foreground, and a very neat touch of chasing policeman. A powerful blizzard from Emil, with a great sense of the sign being caught in a car's headlights: the darkened background, especially with the lit windows, makes a very convincing night scene. Great snow, both falling and on the signs; are the icicles a little too thin? Great skiing signs from Garfield72 - I like the top one, forbidding throwing snowballs. For the graphic, set the mode of the layer to Multiply, then the white of the cartoon will match the background of the sign. A good angle on the ski lift, and a well chosen font for the lettering. Amazing work by vibeke: removing all that snow from the walls and the building must have taken hours! I like the summery elements, and the topical warning about not swimming with sharks - and that's a rather fine splash of water from the hidden pool. Not In My Back Yard, says Sophie: and an interesting selection of spectacle-wearers on the blank wall. SuperVision, by the way, is a great name for a glasses company! Why Twitter, though? Great entries! |

Thanks "removing all that snow from the walls and the building must have taken hours" It wasn't too bad, a mixture of cloning and content aware. _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |

Thank you Steve! I do have a recollection of hearing that it is illegal to pick Eidelweiss flowers now that you mention it. Possibly where the inspiration came from. As far as the music goes..there are a few more I can think of that would warrant the title of worst song ever lol..Ill save them for another time ![]() _________________ Wicked Witch of the West:I'll get you, my pretty! Thanks Steve. Twitter was a bad choice but I was short on inspiration. I also saw that my poster was not quite straight at the sides. Pity I didn't look at it in a browser first before posting. |
