Re: Challenge 415: Decking out the balcony
Just the last one for James .. love the robin, great..... With cats I have cats on cat fighting each other. Makes me very unhappy. I have to step in... More I don't like them attacking birds. Mouse a bit more confrontational. Sorry again, I must have too much time on my mind, but this is one created earlier. Forget thumb nails how about toe nails and reflections of... just ignore , just a small toenail. ![]() |

Thanks, now I just need some of your pretty flying birds, or a dog chasing a cat across the courtyard. _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |

All great entries. I think a lot work goes in there for all for PS techniques and creativity. Only two small comments on latest. Bruce, interesting giraffes. Nice work, bit subtle. I see you let the cats out too. Tigers don't live in Africa.... err my pedant, but why not Love your surreal image Joey, great idea in all aspects, well makes me think.... opening a sea of dreams with open windows Trevor |

Re: Challenge 415: Decking out the balcony
First to liven up the ground floor this week was sciteach, with a terrific scene of chaos inside. I like all the added elements, and good work adding the shadows (but those of the hammock and flamingo are perhaps a touch strong). I like the fact that you've opened the doors, but are they now too big to fit when closed? A great doggy heaven from Sjef, with a perfect expression on the dog's face. I like the gold lamp post! And for those who don't remember, the entrepreneur Leona Helmsley really did leave her dog $12 million when she died in 2007. Good plant action from Garfield72, and I like the symmetry of the two owners watering their plants - the woman at the top is very neatly slipped in behind the railings. Is the man a little too small in comparison, though? I always like to look at tooquilos's still images for a while, before diving into the animation - the anticipation is part of the enjoyment. And this week's image gives plenty to think about: that's a nicely crowded scene, with plenty of entertaining added elements (although personally I'd have positioned the clock where the face could be seen). Good to see everything coming together in the animated version - and what a great zoom in to a terrific bedroom! A clever solution from Linda Eckert, with the run-down apartment now up for sale and a homeless man camping outside. Is he just a little too large for the scene, though? If he was standing up, his head would be through the roof. I like the broken lamp - a very nice touch. Interesting positioning from Jota120, placing the apartment building at the end of a rather fine covered street. Those bare tablecloths and empty vases could really do with some decoration, though! I like the idea of the second entry, but you really need to address the distortion of that balcony! A much more on-topic third entry - and who is the figure in the interesting clothing? Not sure what to make of the fourth entry. By the way, Trevor: I agree with you about the quality of Deborah's photo. Almost all mine are taken with my iPhone, which is the only camera I carry around with me these days - hence the somewhat unprofessional quality of the results. But matching that grain is just another part of the challenge, eh? A funny entry from Frank - with a fine collection of truly absurd garden gnomes now filling the ground floor. Particularly impressed by the decorated flamingo! Very neat work from Ant Snell, who has placed a big game hunter on the balcony while a lion patrols the newly jungled area beneath. I think the spacing on your ivy brush may be a little too large, though: too many leaves have become detached from the main stem. Also, try using Layer Styles to add a drop shadow to the ivy layers, it often gives them a bit of a boost. Beautiful work from James, with a dazzling piece of animation featuring great movement from both the cat and the bird - particularly good motion from the bird around the birdbath. But shouldn't the cat have a reflection as well? Much relaxation from Deborah Morley, with new characters enjoying the patio. I like the detail of the pole's shadow on the man on the balcony - nice touch. But downstairs could still do with more than a could of hanging baskets, I think. Interesting work from brewell - a couple of embossed giraffes replace the poles, and there appears to be a dead tiger beneath them. I'm sure there's a story here, Bruce, but so far it rather defeats me! I like the surrealism of joeysala's entry, with the open doorway leading to a seaside scene. Perhaps the back legs need bending out a little - the building looks rather in danger of collapse as it stands! Remarkable work from vibeke, who has moved the whole balcony to a new location, expertly extending the walls and rebuilding the courtyard. I like the way you've paid so much attention to the shadows, including their direction - excellent work! Many thanks, Deborah, for the starting image this week. |
