Here's my first submission.

I've been observing the Friday Challenges for about a year now. You are a creative, talented group of people.

A flower vase instead of septic tanks! Fine and delicate like a dream of a young girl…
Wonderful idea Kilbee, I like it very much.

Thanks Sjef, I'm liking your dual lighter concept
I just passed an identical truck to the one Steve found, perhaps the same one? All i see are lightbulbs..

Good job.
This is what happens when you don't make copies, and then save over your original, just as the computer decides to crash..
After rebooting, my work now looks like this ..
But I did manage to get a low res, sem-finished video done just before (which lead to the crash..)

Re: Challenge 422: The giant table lamps
First to convert the lamps this week was Jeepy, with an ingenious transformation into two lightbulbs, complete with screw caps and a visible glass filament holder inside. All very subtly achieved, but the best thing for me was the new Light Vehicle sign on the back - brilliant! A clever insertion into the diving suit from last week in the second entry, placed neatly into Anna's room from a few weeks back. What a good fit!

Sciteach has reinterpreted the Long Vehicle sign as Bong Vehicle, complete with two psychedelic bongs puffing out smoke. A great effect, but watch those over-saturated colours - they do give the game away.

I like Sjef's idea of turning the tanks into cigarette lighters, but the whole object is a little unwieldy - especially with the tyres left on! Good blue flames and a well-shaped hand, though - and I like the melting Ronsun lettering at the top.

A rather splendid fantasy scene from joeysala, with the tank modified to become a rather tasteful dwelling apparently inhabited by an elf (should I recognise the elf?). I like the windows and doors, but when it's head-on like that it's always going to look a little artificial; harder to portray it from an angle, but it would be well worth the effort to attempt it. I like the corroded tanks in the second entry - but are the Hazardous Waste and nuclear signs just too clean?

A most impressive image from tomiloi, who has lit up the lamp beautifully, with an excellent shadow set beneath the truck and on the base of the lamp. Especially good work getting rid of the original shadow on the object - that must have been hard.

A first Friday Challenge entry from kilbee, with the tank turned upside down and made into a rather fetching vase. I like the way the light direction and shadows match the window side of the room - good attention to detail! Welcome to the forum, Karen!

Glad to see Frank has been making good use of Photoshop's 3D feature, here using it to map new artwork onto a series of lamps. Was it hard to reproduce the lamp shape? It has worked exceptionally well. Nice work!

I like Ant Snell's idea of turning a disused septic tank into an African home - it fits well into that location. But a couple of points: why is the perimeter of the lamp so fuzzy? And surely the interior would be much darker than the exterior!

A splendidly dark, moody image from Artwel, with plenty of extra tubing (becoming something of an Artwel trademark, that) and a magnificent truck body. I like the spooky lamps up on the hillside - very alien! Such a shame you lost your artwork - the animated was shaping up to be quite special. If you were on a Mac, you could have used Time Machine to get the file back...

Extraordinary work from Linda Eckert, who has turned the shape into a giant cello - with the bow going right through it onto the filament inside. Getting rid of the original cello must have been really hard, but it works well: the only thing I'd take another look at is the leg seen through the glass, which surely should form a knee at some point?

A clever rearrangement from Mariner, ingeniously reworked to build up the platform underneath. A very slick job - and Mr Bean's size and pose are perfect. Excellent!

It takes a Français to think of replacing the tanks with a liqueur - and Garfield72 has done it in style, with two bottles and a huge barrel of the stuff strapped on behind. One for the road, perhaps?

A rather fine glass shade from tooquilos, with a strong blue lamp base beneath. I like the way the hand pulls the cord in the animated version - but it does seem to need to tug rather hard to get it on.

I think Josephine Harvatt's Love Potion No 9 plate explains everything - certainly the pink mist oozing out of the tank. Romantic it may be, but I'd still question the wisdom of canoodling in the fast lane, especially without a car.

A neat conversion into a whisky still from James, and a good job it is too - even if it does appear to be floating in mid air. Still, the animated version puts it in context, with some gas flames sparking into life. Should they flicker a little after they're lit, do you think?

Clever work from BigVern, who has moved the truck wholesale into a tunnel - and then raised copies of the tank to make a string of illuminated lamps. I like the way they glow, not so sure about the soft transparency at the edges!

A touch of 2001 from Emil, turning the tank into a spacecraft. I like the Hal red eye - nice touch!

Thanks Steve - I wasn't sure about the glowing edges either but ran out of time to make any further changes.

Thanks Steve. I'm trying to hold off buying a Mac until next year's 2013 Macbook Retina.. I was hoping they'd add touchscreen, but can't see that anytime soon
