Re: Challenge 462: La Pharmacie
An interesting image from Jota120 started this week's renovations - with, it seems, only the the sign from the bar next door remaining from the original image. Which would be OK - but watch the perspective on that sign!

A conversion into a Victorian pub from tooquilos, and a very cheery place it seems to be. I like the typography on the name, and the hanging signs outside - is it really still operating as a pharmacy? I like the flickering sign in the animated version, and that's a magnificent interior shot - the steam, the bunsen burner flames and the rising bubbles are splendid! And the wipe at the end shows how well the new scene matches the architecture of the original. Nice work!

A detailed entry from Frank, with a glossy new exterior (although I'm not a fan of stone cladding). I like the raised gold name; but shouldn't the angle of the text on the side match all the icons either side of it?

A remarkably clean, spruced-up shot from Deborah Morley, with a perfect makeover: the place looks much more sanitary than it did before! How about a large name over those windows, though?

A clean and highly branded image from Mariner, and I like the fact that you've opened up the doorway so we can see the interior. Clean, bold lettering, and the new upstairs shutters are a real bonus. Nice work.

An enthusiastic image from Linda Eckert herself, with lavish use of marble - I like that dog, although the size of it compared to the woman nearby is terrifying. But watch the angle of your lettering: "Pharmacie" looks fine, but the rest seems to be viewed from the wrong angle.

A classical scene from brewell, who has explored the Acropolis theme and produced a Grecian building complete with doric columns. I especially like the lighting on the columns, which varies as they go around the corner - nicely judged!

There's no mistaking the pharmacy logos in marlcliff's entry, which is liberally plastered with signage. And I see you've opened your own hospital! Best touch for me is the painter around the corner - and good work tucking that Pharmacy sign behind the traffic light, but points off for two many Ms in the other sign.

A thoroughly renovated building from joeysala, with an upstairs that has been completely rebuilt. Don't you think those apartments have lost a little charm in the process, though? I like the clean walls, and especially the huge double doors. Very appealing.

Splendid new windows from Garfield72, with new brickwork to match. I think your shadows may be a little over-zealous, though, as they make the name very hard to read. I see you've had trouble making the small Acropolis text fit the sign, so here's a way to do it: first, create your text as normal (A). Then rasterise the text, and make a selection around it of the same proportions as the sign (B). All you have to to then is to distort the selection so that each corner matches the corners of the sign (C), and you're guaranteed a perfect perspective fit:

A great night scene from BigVern, with lit windows and neon signs - most effective. I like the contrast between the inside and the outside here. Perhaps a red glow from the top traffic light?

A fine new frontage from Ben Boardman, back after a long absence with a cracking piece of work - I especially like all the super-French elements, like the 2CV and the cyclist. A great upper floor, too. Nice work - good to see you back, Ben.

Thanks Steve. I had a whole list of things planned to do to the image but just ran out of week.

Re: Challenge 462: La Pharmacie
Thanks Steve. I hate the large signs which is why I went for a smaller sign by the door.
Have a good weekend all.

Re: Challenge 462: La Pharmacie
Thanks Steve -- possibly yes, I angled the text a bit to the street so perhaps I could have angled the icons as well. I had tried the text perpendicular but decided to go with the slight angle instead.
