Re: Challenge 477: A Halloween Wizard
Between Dr appointments and preparing for Halloween (was fun, but I'm glad that's over!) I couldn't finish this challenge....good work everyone. _________________ "Imagination, not invention, is the supreme master of art........" Joseph Conrad |

Re: Challenge 477: A Halloween Wizard
First to fill the wizard's body this week was ahmedalij, with a remarkably well constructed entry - perfect blending of the new elements into the old body, and a terrific fit for the new head on the body. I've noted the complete absence of bombs, explosions and weapons of war this week, Ahmed - quite refreshing! Interesting to see Gerard Depardieu popping up in Kathryn's entry - he'd have been great for the part. I think the main problem here is that you've used his face just too big, which is why you've had to skew it to make the eye fit. Try reducing it around 20 per cent and you should get a more comfortable fit. Meticulous rebuilding from Vibeke, with a perfect blending of old and new. I like the way the hand is clutching the lapel, a good detail. Is that an original Moody head, though? It looks more like Benny Hill! A highly spooky image from Tom, with the head replaced by a pumpkin - and what a splendid pumpkin this is, as the detail enlargement shows. Is this a photographed object, or did you draw it? Because if it's the latter, I can't imagine how you got that range of distortions and colours in there. Beautiful. An unusually on-topic michael sinclair this week, with a neatly rebuilt body - but is the head facing the wrong way for that body? Both are tricky to flip, given their lack of symmetry. I like the background, or at least the top part: that cornfield seems a surprising choice, especially given the bright lighting on it. Something altogether darker, perhaps? A clever entry from Linda Eckert, blending Moody's body with the glasses head from a few months back. I like the way the recoloured clothes match the new woman, and that's a very fine body extension: the way you've tucked the hand inside the staff is most convincing. And I like all the eyes in the background, of course. Excellent. A clever solution from micky47 that avoids having to draw a new body - but who is the new head? I'm not sure I can recognise him. When drawing fire, though, use the Smudge tool to blend the elements together, and to bring them up over the body - those hard edges look too artificial. Clever work from James, as Moody turns his pet dinosaur into a puppy - very nicely achieved movement, and a clever story. A neatly extended body as well - and I really like that choice of background. I'm very impressed with vahn's ingenious entry, which blends a Batman suit into Moody's original costume. The cape wrapped around the shoulders and the recolouring to complement the original are ingenious, and the eye strapped over the top is nicely achieved. But what I really like is the way the cape reappears wrapped around the bottom of the coat, and the excellent touch of the false eye on the staff. An inspired and ingenious entry! A ghostly scene from tooquilos, with a beautifully lit Moody standing outside his own mausoleum. That's a nicely animated ghost in the animated version, and some good effects in the interior shot - I like the eye in the wall, and that web-building spider. Very atmospheric! Highly entertaining work from brewell, with Margaret Hamilton - the witch from The Wizard of Oz - replacing one of the bland dancing celebs with Moody's altogether more sinister figure. Terrific lighting on Hamilton, whose robes are picking up the purple lighting; and great shadows and, especially, reflections in that shiny floor. I'd have moved Moody across just a fraction so that the dancer's hand was resting on the skull on his staff, which might have tied the pair together a little more - and there's a bit of a glitch just above the right hand, a horizontal panel that masks his sleeve. Maybe a more rotated hand needed? That position looks a little too camp for Moody. Very fine body building from Mariner, with expert blending between the old and the new versions, and a thoroughly fine pair of steampunk boots. I like the rebuilt window, too, but I'd knock it out of focus a little - it's slightly too sharp for its distance. Neat fitting of a skull on the body from Garfield72, and the eye drops in there perfectly. The strap is a little fuzzy where it's been dragged over the skull, though; trace just inside the outline with the Pen tool and delete the outside to get more of a crisp edge here. A fine view from Frank, with a perfectly extended body (that's Moody's body I'm talking about, Frank) and an excellent fit on the head. I like the wide background, too, although for composition reasons I'd have placed him further to the left: bang in the middle is rarely a good location. Good work this week, on what turned out to be a difficult Challenge. |

Re: Challenge 477: A Halloween Wizard
Thank you Steve for your nice review, this challenge was very perplexing that I wanted the wizard to put his clothes on without giving him a even a small firecracker. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: Challenge 477: A Halloween Wizard
Thanks Steve, I normally would not place the subject in the center but this time decided to break the rule due to the nature of the challenge (being him as the center of focus). |
