Re: Challenge 484: Obama's selfie
Somehow I seem to have ended up with a very small image. I would suggest getting out a magnifying glass but that would magnify all the faults!

Re: Challenge 484: Obama's selfie
I have enlarged it in PS and tweaked it slightly so please ignore the one above

Edit
I don't like the jagged edges on the hand. I have been back into the file (I have used Smart Objects seriously for the first time!) and tried refining the edge but there is very little improvement. I think the problem lies in the small size of the image of the phone and hand. It didn't like being enlarged.

Re: Challenge 484: Obama's selfie
I'm a bit confused, I don't know what is scandalous about this. It doesn't seem that anyone was being disrespectful, not like it was a somber funeral; more like thousands of people celebrating a great man's life. Maybe it seems that Michelle Obama was being excluded, or simply interested in something else? In any case, I have included her…..kinda, sorta.

Re: Challenge 484: Obama's selfie
First to imagine the selfie this week was ahmedalij, with a very neat arrangement: Cameron, Thorning-Schmidt and Obama all mugging for the camera, and perfectly composed. The scene, though, was Mandela's memorial service - not sure presidential jets were involved!

A good set of expressions from Vibeke, featuring Cameron holding a particularly girly sparkly pink phone. Something awkward about the way Obama looms over the scene, though: isn't he altogether rather too big? And, er, shouldn't they all be looking at the camera? Great expressions in the second entry - very nicely done!

Clever work from marlcliff, who has interposed someone else's camera phone over the scene. And it's rather well imagined - except shouldn't Obama be on the other side?

A funny image from GKB, with Obama holding up rabbit ears and Cameron looking on aghast. Great expressions all round! Obama needs a bit of a contrast boost to match the strong lighting on the other two - but I really like his smug grin.

Plenty of camera controls from Garfield72, with the trio crammed together on the screen. There's something about all three heads in a line that seems a little artificial: perhaps she should be a little shorter than the other two? I like their expressions, though.

A bit of satire from Ant Snell who has lurched wildly off-topic to show Blair holding a tablet and surrounded by, er, sea scouts... interesting approach. I like the skeletal politicians, though, and I'm sure there must be a good explanation behind it.

I like the way James's politicos turn into monkeys and back - and I especially like the zebra movement in the background, which feels most naturalistic. Especially in the second entry, when the hand dodges out of the way to reveal more of the scene.

A clever shot from tooquilos, with Cameron cutting out Obama as he deliberately barges in for a double selfie with the Danish PM. I like all the comments from Michelle and Sam in the animated version - and particularly good to see the much-derided sign language interpreter in there. A great set of captions! I particularly like all the lying Cameron shots!

A funny image from Ben Mills, with Obama tangled up in Thorning-Schmidt's hair, and Cameron reaching to get into the scene. It may not be anatomically correct but it's a nice shot!

An ingenious entry from Emy, as Michelle tries to pull Obama out of the scene. A great set of expressions all round - I really like her frown. Nicely achieved.

A tidy group shot from puffin31939, with all three politicians grinning at the camera. But are they too close? Remember, they're in a line, so she shouldn't be in front of the other two; one of the marks of this kind of photo is the way people contort themselves to get in the shot. Perfect background, though. If you have difficulty with Smart Objects and Refine Edge, try adding a layer mask and then apply the Edge effects to that. Should help to smooth out the finger.

A great boozy selfie from Artwel, with decidedly drunken Cameron and Obama producing a very convincing image. I like the way Cameron is leaning in, holding the bottle of beer, and the lipstick on Obama's collar - and a great caption from Helle's tweet. Excellent!

A trio in a row from joeysala, with all the politicians in a line. But do they look as if they're leaning together to get in the shot? I think, Joey, the reason for the fuss was that at an event when the politicians should have been celebrating the life of Mandela, they were instead still interested only in themselves.

A tricky Challenge this week - and some notably good entries.

Thanks, Steve. Yes, I can see they are too big now you point it out. They are like that because one of the photos I chose was just a head shot. I will try again with a better photo.
The mask trick works well - thanks for the tip!

Re: Challenge 484: Obama's selfie
Has anyone noticed on my entry that Helle Thorning-Schmidt's features have been replaced with Michelle Obama's? Or was I way to subtle......??

Yes, Joey, I noticed but only after I had read your note about including Michelle Obama. Then I had to look very hard to find her.

Re: Challenge 484: Obama's selfie
Thank you Steve! It was interesting because as I was looking for photos of David Cameron..at least 50% of them showed him as touching his face in some way or another which indicated to me he wasn't telling the entire truth lol
