Re: Challenge 488: Robot restaurant
Hello Artwel, Yes the file is to large to post direct into the forum. All my entries I save, [For web & other devices] if animated, as a “Gif '', otherwise as a “Jpeg''. The image (file) is then posted to “Photobucket'' for storage. From where a link is forged back to the Forum. I hope this is helpful. |

Re: Challenge 488: Robot restaurant
I would like post mine in that manner, but doesn't that method still take a large equal amount of bandwidth within the forum? |

Re: Challenge 488: Robot restaurant
Hello Iwc. Greetings. I think you should go ahead and post, the file would be stored in your Photobucket album, not on the Forum, so taking little if any of Steve's space. If it did one would quickly receive notification. Steve is a Gentleman, with I suspect, a heavy boot. Forgot to mention, Photobucket appears to have a file size limitation of around 5Mb, but don't take that as gospel. I tried to upload a file of 6Mb witch proved to be a No-no. 4Mb yes. |

Re: Challenge 488: Robot restaurant
Thanks James. When I save an image to Photobucket, it creates a link which I then copy and paste into this forum (but it is just a text link), but how are you getting the full file into the forum? thanks ![]() |

Re: Challenge 488: Robot restaurant
Check out the Help button when you post a reply (it's above the smileys). Copy the image address you want to post, and it will come out as e.g. http://www.photobucket.com/myentry. Then replace the http with img, and put the whole lot in square brackets. I can't show you that here or it will try to interpret what I type as an image! |

Re: Challenge 488: Robot restaurant
Well, I did say it was a restaurant... and Josephine Harvatt's splendid entry puts the robot firmly in charge of the tea things. Great background choice, a really funny image! A foggy atmosphere from ahmedalij, with plenty of stuff going on in the background. But what are those red dots? And the blue lines, if they're lasers, need to shine more... I like the way GKB's laser lines bend over the figure, which give it an extra sense of three-dimensionality. Except, of course, that a surface like that would be much more highly reflective, and the beams would bounce off in all directions. Excellent reflections from Frank, suggesting a multicoloured light show. I like the glow of the lasers, too. Nicely achieved. I like the way bwild has placed the robot into the disco - that sense of scale is impressive. But with such a reflective body, don't you think he'd take on the colour of the surroundings? Why is Jota120's robot rising out of an observatory? I like the image, but having read through the whole Wikipedia entry on Iron Maiden I'm none the wiser. Good to see Nick Curtain back, with the laser stripes bending over the robots torso. Again, though, they'd tend to bounce off more than bending over - but there's a good sense of atmosphere in the robot's treatment. Highly colourful work from tooquilos, with lasers aplenty and beams bouncing off in all directions. That certainly captures the spirit of the evening, which was over the top in a big way! I like the dancing lights in the animated version - but the disco soundtrack needs to much more thumping. A splendid tea setting from Linda Eckert, with this and another robot neatly integrated into a demure setting. Have you lost your password, Linda? You seem to be registered afresh. A great sense of place from Garfield72, with multiple beams and reflections. I like the flare on the spotlights behind, and the dazzle from the flare on his chest. Yes, that's what it felt like in the restaurant. A pulsating light show from James, with great colour changes. Couldn't make him dance, eh? I like the multicolour effects in the second entry. Looks like I've been assimilated into Ant Snell's entry - with a spectacular light show going on around the robot. Now that's the way to get space to yourself on the dance floor. A real sense of pulsating chaos from Vibeke, which is very appropriate. But is the girl extremely tall? Or is she just standing on a table? An interesting walking movement from michael sinclair, as the robot leaves the club and strides down the road in, er, Arizona. A cunningly built body - made out of spare parts from the original? A clever view from BigVern, with the lasers sweeping over the robot's body - I like the exaggerated curve as it follows the contours of the torso. But surely with such a reflective surface the beams would bounce of, rather than being absorbed? A set of angled laser beams from marlcliff, and I like the way they wind in and out of the body - they give it a good sense of three-dimensionality. Shouldn't the colours reflect in the shiny surface more, though? A fantastic animation from lwc, with pulsating colours that alter the background as well as moving the lasers around. There's a real sense of presence here, and a remarkable smoothness for a GIF image. Very fine work, and enough to earn you a title at last - I see you first joined the Forum nearly six years ago! So, as a golf enthusiast, I think it has to be Hole in One for this and your outstanding banner contributions. Very good work! An interesting light show from joeysala, and while it's dominated by the green lasers, I really like that spaghetti of lines coming out of his ear. How did you create that? It's a splendid effect - I want to see more of it, and bigger! Subtle colouring from Mariner, with a remarkably cheerful robot - I like his new toothy grin. One point: if the parrot's standing on his shoulder, surely the parrot's tail should be behind the robot rather than in front? Oh, and second point: why a parrot? Very enjoyable images this week. Just for completion, here's the robot as it actually appeared during the show: ![]() |

Enjoyed others' images...... ![]() So how can I damage and confuse your new FC, I'm sure I will have some ideas ![]() |

Yes, I know all about the tail. I just ran out of time. Why a parrot? Why not? |

Thanks Steve ... I am reflecting upon the reflections and absence thereof. The health & safety police would have a field day with all that laser light bouncing around the room!!! ![]() Congratulations lwc on your title ... well deserved ...
