Re: Challenge 498: Anthrop that mouse
First to pose the mouse this week was Garfield72, with a great crooner image. I like the hat, the well positioned walking stick, and the shortened microphone - very well chosen. With all the spotlights behind it, though, shouldn't the mouse cast more of a shadow towards us? Very good smoke effect. An action shot from Ant Snell, with the mice attacking a splendidly scared looking cat. I like the rope swinging, but what does the spear-wielding mouse have on its head? I can't quite figure that out. Somehow, the cat appears further back in the scene that the mice: is it just a lack of focus? A very neatly constructed Mouseton Abbey from srawland, neatly replacing the cast of Downton. And very aristocratic they look, too. Some shadows under the hats would help them to look more in place, though - and do watch your spelling of "Abbey"! I like the fashion show in the second entry - most appealing. Ingenious props from Linda Eckert turn all the mice into musicians, with instruments that exactly match their poses. The double bass is perfect, and the motion blur on the timpani hammers is exactly right. Fantastic! A truly glorious animation from James, with a dancing, pirouetting, leaping mouse brought down by a smug cat. Fantastic choice of images, and perfect timing: great attention to detail, too, such as the way in which the sharp shadows become softer as the mouse leaps in the air. And the expression on the cat's face is perfect. Magnificent, James! A fine cowboy mouse from Vibeke, toting guns and wearing a waistcoat and stetson. I like the compressed background, which cleverly feels like it's constructed on a mouse-sized scale. Very neat. Superb realism from Frank, with the mice really looking as if they're on that stage. I like the repositioned arms on the guitar player, and the way the lighting blends them all so neatly into the image. Perfect. Clever work from brewell, combining the mouse with last week's elephant image: and it's hardly surprising the elephant would be afraid of a mouse larger than it is. The window could perhaps do with some glass to make it feel less like a picture pasted on the wall; and there's some very odd perspective going on here! Are you sure that's the right choice of room background? Tooquilos's mouse turns up in her own house this week, and it's even reading a copy of HotChiPs. How sophisticated! Or is that the doll's house? So hard to tell the difference. Great sound effects in the animated version, but I really want to see what montages the mouse comes up with! A voodoo scene from Mariner, sticking pins in a row of stuffed mice. It's a very compelling image, with a terrific hat and skull mask, and very fine hands holding the mouse and the pins. Ingenious posing of the mice on the table, too, giving a good sense of perspective; and the lighting on the mice is beautifully realised. Great stuff. I like the way Deborah Morley has shown the mouse in the process of being dressed and posed - and that's exactly how everyone in the class did it, of course. A very neatly hand-drawn cloak, too; perhaps it could be a little darker to match the hat? I like the cheese-based menu in joeysala's café image, and the way the mice sit on the benches to reach the table. That's a great Hole logo, too, very well thought out. And the Mickey Mouse clock is a neat touch. Nicely done, Joey. But beware of using pure white, in the clock and the menu background: it always looks too bright. Take a portion of the wall instead, and you'll find it blends in better. A really funny set of entries all round this week, with some real ingenuity. Congratulations to all of you. |

The room was fine until I decided to add researchers. I noticed the odd corner yesterday. _________________ Onward and upward! Excelsior! |

Thank you, Steve, for your critique. I got the idea because my sister is a Downton Abbey uber-fan. I showed her the first entry and she didn't even catch my misspelling. I will try to do better next time. _________________ I'm still learning. |

Thank Steve. It’s my room in the dolls house. The mouse hasn’t produced anything as yet - still getting his head around the pen tool !! _________________ Wicked Witch of the West:I'll get you, my pretty! And your little dog, too! |
