Michael

Maybe Steve will do exactly as you suggest. If so I shall accept absolutely with good grace.

We all have different thresholds of what is proper or not. I totally abhor violence but I believe that mocking it and making it ridiculous helps rob it of its sinister and terrible glamour to the violent. It's a satirical spoof Micheal, intended as a derisive absurdity. Created in a spirit that I had hoped would be reminiscent of the Monty Python "Salad Days" by Peckinpah. Clearly I lack the the talent of Terry Gilliam to achieve this.

If I have clumsily crossed a threshold for you then I sincerely and unconditionally apologise. I really have no wish to offend anyone.

My sister, who has spent a great deal of time in hospitals, (burst appendix, pancreatitis, cancer twice) assures me that all sorts of odd characters can be found there.

Oh, and thanks, Gordon, for the hint.

Since I have insensitively managed to offend at least one member with my previous post, here's one to make amends and show that I can be a good boy too.

No, David

I fear I am the one who has offended others, and for that I am deeply sorry. I am the one who suggested your post was a challenge to other members of this forum, not you. I think that is where the offense lies. I take full responsibility for my actions and will accept whatever the consequences may be.

It's been a while since we've had a serious disagreement on this forum, so let me quickly lay this one to rest.

David: No offence has been taken by your entry. And you do warn members about its graphic nature in advance.

Sara: Your comments were perfectly acceptable. You have not done anything wrong.

Michael: I think you're being somewhat disingenuous. In the elephant/monkey/vulture sequence to which you refer, I think it's clear to all that the monkey is dead, not sleeping, and that the vultures are then feeding on it. The implicit can be just as affecting as the explicit. And you have to admit, your fondness for death and destruction is well known.

Let's draw a line under this. Life's too short, and Photoshop's too much fun, for this kind of dispute.

Thank you Steve for being so gracious. I meant no harm but I do regret putting you in the unfortunate position of having to mediate.

I shall be more circumspect in future.

Thank you, Steve, for being the voice of reason. I am sorry to have subjected other members to this disagreement and then for your having to step in and settle things. I will be more careful with what I post in the future.

Re: Challenge 509: The distorting mirror
After some considerable difficulty, I have just managed to get my computer working, and this after a very long and excruciating day moving back into my own flat once again, so I'm very tired and scratchy.

I have been greatly moved (no overwhelmed) by Sara's and DavidMac's sensitive response, and I'm very pleased to have got to know you both as two nice people; moreover, I look forward to contributions from both of you.

Steve I would just like to say

Re: Challenge 509: The distorting mirror
I wasn't going to attempt this due to lack of time - but I got sucked in! I am not convinced that I have the distortion right and I have given up on the shadows! Otherwise I am entirely satisfied with the image!
I did start another image where the distortion more nearly matched the original but time has completely run out now and it won't be finished.
