David I laughed at the touch of Napoleon

James, I felt like flicking a tea towel at the screen to get rid of the fly. Fantastic realism!! Really well done

I feel like I must be missing something here. It just can't be this simple. Unfortunately, I don't have time to fiddle with this any more.

James: Your fly is fantastic!

Anna: Terrific animation. I loved how you brought in the mirror from two weeks ago.

Day...

Re: Challenge 549: A subtle exercise
Thank you David, Sara and Michael!! I was determined to include the mirror somewhere since I never did the original challenge

David … once I get started on a project ..that’s all I focus on. It really doesnt take that long to do. If you notice at least half of the clip is a repeated scene. Using .png images saves a heap of time. Most of the particles(smoke, fire, clouds, steam etc) I have either made in AE previously or downloaded. They all have an alpha channel so its just a case of dropping them into the scene. The bulk of the time is wasted in rendering out the clips. Its during that time that I do my housework lol

Re: Challenge 549: A subtle exercise
Nice work everybody, and James I love the fly

Sub article 2, paragraph 7 from Steve Caplin's "Rules of Engagement", clearly states that if there is a b***s-up in the descriptive remit given out, then one is allowed to have complete artistic licence in producing a facsimile of what was, or is representational as long as the fundamental criteria are adhered to. Moreover...

Wow, Michael, that's beautiful. And still no Napoleonic soldiers. Steve is going to fall off his chair!

Re: Challenge 549: A subtle exercise
Well, I had a little plastic Ikea battery light, which upside down was a similar shape. I held it up to the wall when the sun was out and came up with this. Mind you every time I looked it looked different...

Very subtle!! A very subtle response! Leaves too much to the imagination perhaps, but enjoyed others entries so far.

Thanks Sara; however, I feel it needs some further improvement, and I thought gold:

Re: Challenge 549: A subtle exercise
A while ago I spent several weekends scouring the shops with her indoors for bedside lights for our recently decorated bedroom but could not find anything we liked so in the end opted to make my own from some old salvaged industrial exterior lights. When this challenge came up I couldn’t resist checking what they may have looked like had I visited the same hotel as Steve armed with my screwdriver.
