Very good entry Frank. Entirely believable with good fire, smoke, people and pottery. |

Re: Challenge 671: The Kiln Fields
First to light the kiln this week was GKB, with a Tolkien-themed entry that's full of mystic references. A great sense of drama here, and I like the consistent colouring - and all those flames! Looks like you had fun with this one. A beautiful bucolic scene from Josephine Harvatt, the kiln forming the entrance o a railway tunnel. Excellent colouring of the kiln, with moss matching the surrounding foliage. The only thing missing is, er, some tracks for the train to run on... A nicely animated kiln from lwc, with fire in its belly and smoke rising from its mouth - just as it must look in real life. Good work - and good to see you back. An entertaining ad for indigestion remedies from Ben Mills, with a fiery-tinted kin and the colour of the text neatly matching the box. Small point: when you add a stroke to text you can choose its location; I'd recommend placing it Outside rather than Inside, so that it doesn't eat into the lettering too much. A fine dragon from michael sinclair - "in the general neighbourhood of what was required" indeed. Very good motion of the beast; I think it would work better if it were belching fire in a continuous loop, rather than pausing for static breath. A charming scene from Linda Eckert, with a group of children very nicely integrated into the scene - I particularly like the girl perched on the tree behind, and the boy barbecuing a… what is it? Looks like a rat to me. The boars are a great addition. A beautiful forest scene from Ant Snell, all sprites and mystic wonder. The kiln fits perfectly in here, producing a fairytale effect. Not sure about the lipstick, though. The kiln is moved to a cave entrance in tooquilos's entry, with fire nicely illuminating its belly. A great choice of font in the animated entry, written on a stretched skin... and a fantastic piece of Fuse animation with the man walking out of his yurt (I think it's a yurt) before we see the kiln from multiple angles (clever!) with a real fire and cascading waterfall. The buildings in the rocks are splendid! What a great opening to a movie this would make. An arctic kiln from Gerard, serving as a home for a pair of penguins. I like the blue tint, and the icicles dripping from its mouth. Well achieved. A powerful image from Oday, with a lit kiln and a rather scary-looking woman wielding either a lit taper or a cattle prod. I'll assume the former. I'd add a lot more light to her on the kiln side, with perhaps some corresponding shadow in the other side. But I like the treatment here, which unifies all the elements neatly. A fun scene from Deborah Morley, with the kiln monster giving birth to a rather sophisticated egg - I recognise that from a Challenge last year. And naturally, it would want some emus around while doing so. Good to see you back, Deborah. A seriously out-of-control kiln from Frank, with flames leaping out of the chimney and elsewhere, and smoke belching out everywhere. I like the man attempting to retrieve a pot, but shouldn't he be brightly lit by the kiln? A dark entry from srawland, almost too dark to see what's going on, so let's check out the animated version... and there's a gradual darkening, with fairy light appearing in the gloom and performing a little dance. And just as I was about to think the kiln was rather irrelevant... ha ha ha ha! |

Thank you, Steve. I had wanted to make the fairies dance a little more complex but I had some technical difficulties and had to curtail their routine. And, thank you, Frank. _________________ I'm still learning. |

Thank you guys for asking, we are ok my house is ok. During the hurricane, I was volunteering as a Shelter Manager for a Red Cross Shelter. We had around 1,800 people for almost 4 days. It was a great and interesting experience that makes you be a better person. ![]() _________________ Why not! |

Dear Steve, the children have on her spits “Kloepfer”, so-called very popular sausages in Switzerland. In my country is a Kloepfer-barbecue (in the forest or in a garden) a great tradition! ![]() |
