It’s a bit late to do this for most people, including myself..but it occurred to me this morning that the hole could be enlarged without losing integrity by using ‘Content aware scale’ for those who have more current versions of PS. I always forget that it’s there to make full use of it. ![]() _________________ Dorothy: Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore |

A very simple one this week because It's the Thanksgiving Holiday here and I've been busy preparing for it and cooking. Animation: http://vimeo.com/244291365 ![]() _________________ I'm still learning. |

Re: Challenge 681: Enter the Gladiator
A topical entry touching on Italian politics from DavidMac, with former president Silvio Berlusconi being offered a way to avoid the crowds, by a rather camp gladiator in a black mini skirt. Still, at least he wasn't a bunga bunga girl. I like the shadows, and the lion's a great touch - could have been even more concealed, I think. A splendid animation from michael sinclair, with those gladiators giving us a very impressive fight sequence. Given that they're already in shadow, I'm not sure they would be casting much in the way of shadow themselves, though. Good marching in the second entry; would one extra frame help to avoid the jump when it restarts? Hope you're on the mend. A beautifully composed entry from Josephine Harvatt - the man in the hole is a perfect fit, and I like the scene of destruction behind him. Have to admit to not being familiar with either Mordor or Gimli, but I know they're not from Game of Thrones. An entertaining entry from lwc, with Wonder Woman taking on the gladiatorial role. Unless you're left handed, I'd hold the camera the other way round so you don’t have to reach right over the top to press the shutter button. Terrific work from Emy, with a boy digging a new hole - immaculately blended into the original image. Excellent. A funny entry from Ant Snell, with a group of digging centurions (where on earth did you find that photo?) unaware that the escaped lion is behind them. A perfect fit for the lion and the scaffolding; all you need to change is to translate Do Not Enter into Latin. There's a decidedly wistful air to Ben Mills's charming entry showing a boy fishing, and both the boy and the pond are very nicely composed into the original. The only small change I'd make might be to have the string disappearing into the water a little higher. An evocative entry from tooquilos, with a man kneeling (rather painfully, it looks like) on a grating, with a curiously self-lit torch lying next to him. Perhaps the animated version will explain... I like the view down the well, with the rippling at the bottom... great camera movements once he's fallen down, and a fine glowing skull. And really interesting to see your tutorial on building the well. An archaeological dig from Linda Eckert, with the diggers coming up with a huge haul. I like how the skeleton in the foreground remains half buried; bu there's something a little odd about the transparency of the skull in front of it - should it be part buried, rather than translucent? Perfect perspective on the diggers, though, and I like the tropical background. A tastefully renovated Colosseum from Mariner, with perfectly fitted wall paintings and a rebuilt amphitheatre. Very fine shadows - and there's a real sense of warmth in that sunlight. A neatly edged hole, too. Very good. Jota120 has given us a couple of kids about to slide down the hole - cute, but somewhat incongruous given the lengths you've gone to to add the floor, walls and marching centurions in authentic period style. I'd like to see the image without the kids. More topical politics from Deborah Morley, with newly-deposed Robert Mugabe hiding down the hole - with a crocodile, it appears. Great use of the Zimbabwe flag at the back. Was this done before or after he finally went? A newly-fitted grating from srawland - glad to see you've got your safety hat on today. I like the fact that you've added a shadow of the grating inside the hole, but of course it really needs to be more vertical on that surface. I really liked the hurtling horses in the animated version - and a very well composed soundtrack to go with it. |

Thanks Steve. The crocodile is Mnangagwa, Grace is in the background. Have a good weekend all. |

Thanks Steve. It did seem to take on two disparate, disparaging manifestations that resisted integration. Should have completed second idea left in the ether or pursued your suggestion. Anna's idea for how to increase size of hole could have helped. Thanks for the heads-up/reminder Anna. |

Thank you, Steve. The horses move so quickly so you can't tell they are static images. _________________ I'm still learning. |
