Re: Challenge 706: Cyclists merging
First to get on two wheels this week was DavidMac, with what I’m assuming is a mass protest and not the aftermath of carnage. Great angle of view and matching of both perspective and road colour. A very fine cutout, too, notably in the cycle wheels on the far left; I’m not even going to mention the fact that the standing woman on the right needs the space between her legs cutting out. I like the pedal powered bus in the second entry, so much so that I’m almost prepared to overlook the curious perspective of its front end. Thanks for flipping it in the third entry! The thing I like most about lwc’s entry is the pacing of the cyclists as they glide past - those in the foreground moving convincingly more quickly than those in the back. A great sense of motion. And plenty of extra action in the second entry, with added birds truck and taxi - very engaging. The budgie on the far right is especially cute. A precise merger from Ant Snell - or is that a demerger? A surprisingly effective technique. An overwhelming selection of road signs from Darren, duly causing chaos on the road. I like the confusion of road markings as well. Great signs, and I like the pre-warned flasher. An animated entry from GKB, with a song I never thought I’d hear again… and entertainingly merging cyclists. Next task: get them pedalling? I like the changing traffic lights. Good pedalling action from michael sinclair, and I like the eyes that bulge with the effort. Not sure about the shadows, though - a bit blobby? I like the extreme weather in the second entry, but I’m not sure the overcast scene should alternate with a bright sunlit one, given that gloomy sky. The moment before disaster from Mariner, with a woman about to cause chaos in the cycle race. Immaculate, as always, from the style of her antique bike to the dog in the basket. And as always, it’s the hidden detail that impresses most: in this case, the removal of all the motorised traffic. Two cyclists heading for disaster in srawland's entry, with fine placing of shadows. An extraordinary and somewhat fabulous merger in the animated version - and interesting to see how many sound effects you’ve crammed in there! The transition from the two cyclists into one is remarkably smoothly done. A winning cyclist from Linda Eckert - but is he racing against himself? Can’t really win a race with no other competitors! A large group of riderless bikes from Jota120, all of which appear to be on the wrong side of the road and heading directly into the traffic. I’m not sure the world is yet ready for autonomous cycles. |

Holborn Viaduct
Thanks Steve. No traffic! I remember I once walked through Trafalgar Square on August Bank Holiday Monday morning. Not a soul, not a car to be seen. Remarkable. I expect Holborn was the same. |

Oh dear. Too much of a rush. Very careless.
Once again too rushed. I simply didn't have time to try a rebuild but I found the vehicle such fun that I couldn't resist it anyway. Thanks Steve. Ever observant. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 706: Cyclists merging
Thanks Steve! I think that I spent as much time as anything else on the timing of the brake lights of the truck and car in the second entry... was a bit fiddly for me. A fun challenge this week. |

Re: Challenge 706: Cyclists merging
Thanks Steve. I thought since traffic has stopped they were attempting to turn left and filter between the two lanes. Apparently they already have them in Netherlands in traffic after call it to come, while use laptop and will bring your children to you, but agree not yet for majority of us. Netherlands is biker friendly e.g.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSZPNwZex9s ![]() |

Re: Challenge 706: Cyclists merging
Sorry to disappoint you but that film was released on April 1st 2015. I was sure it had to be a spoof. So I checked. It's just too improbable. A legal nightmare too. Who's responsible in an accident - the rider or the bike? _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 706: Cyclists merging
No problem David, and I agree. My idea was just a thought, not necessarily confirmed current reality when working on image. Driver less cars are having enough challenges with traffic and pedestrians. |
