Re: Challenge 718: The Peace Garden
Thanks David, Not a coincidence. Your moth photo reminded me of fishing trips with my father. Dad would rather fish at night on rivers than anything else. Light a lantern and the mosquitoes were bad enough, but the flying critters were so thick that you couldn't take a breath without a nose or mouth full of bugs... dark long-sleeved shirts and hats with netting were the only things that kept you from being too miserable. ![]() |

I kept looking at this .......... and then the penny dropped. "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil". I loved that movie. As for fishing I am afraid I can leave that well alone with no qualms ......... ![]() _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 718: The Peace Garden
I thought of the title for this entry early on and used the 'Bird Girl' statue for a visual clue within the image. The assorted oddball supporting characters, such as 'The Lady Chablis' and 'Minerva', are what make this movie so great. |

Mariner Michael, that's lovely. I especially like the reflection Anna: Brilliant My friend, Tony, came up with the dialog. Animation: http://vimeo.com/285437462 ![]() _________________ I'm still learning. |

Re: Challenge 718: The Peace Garden
You have built a quite exceptional reflection Mariner ....... ..... so I am going to be hyper critical. ![]() ![]() The only give away, that I can see, is that, in reflection, I think the bottom edge of the guitar body would be hidden behind the knee. ........ and if that's the only thing I can find to criticise you can be seriously chuffed! Building good reflections can be nigh on impossible sometimes. I love the reduction of depth of field too. Really pops out the foreground. ![]() _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 718: The Peace Garden
Well done all. Well done Anna, I'd be in there dancing as you might expect. Can't stop a rocker. I still do it. Even my motorbike was surprised to feel me again, a young Street Triple, and well behaved. The old Jota120 is still waiting.for me. My mother not 100% and I have to cat sit for my sister and fallout with some people in Salisbury, and they killed their dog Prince, attacked someone but he is so passive, loved him. Others great. Ambulance last night for mother after 111. If I'm here its ok. Assertive. Otherwise just neigbours who are good. Sorry my excuse, but the responses are in my head, but really not fair if I respond late. 2 days lost on UK trains. Take 5 five trains to get to Salisbury and then they fail again 4 trains back via London underground and Virgin trains. Virgin Train great I used to race them on the motorway on my mototorbike late at night from London (I won't give you the speed but the Triumph Trident could go faster. Safe no traffic). Go with Street Triple or Jota next time. |

Re: Challenge 718: The Peace Garden
I do like a good pun, and DavidMac's Peas Garden did tickle me. The expression on the woman’s face says it all. I like the jigsaw effect in the second entry - but was it really so difficult? Haven’t you seen my YouTube video on how to do this? A glorious, haunting entry from lwc - truly beautiful, Loyd. I like the new sign. And a fun-packed if somewhat bizarre second entry - but those are the cutest guard dogs I’ve ever seen. A neatly opened gate from Ant Snell, revealing a serene scene beyond. And you’ve added a padlock! Very nicely done. Given the scale set by the handle, that’s one hell of a gorilla from Linda Eckert - a real shocker. A really striking image. Good to see you back, Linda. A touch of peace from Ben Mills. But hang on a minute - no scantily-clad women? Ben, are you back on the meds? Some fine cemetery gates from michael sinclair, opening very neatly in perspective. Now that’s one very crowded graveyard! A truly beautiful second entry, with excellent rusting and a fine selection of foliage. I really like the elegance of this one. And some interesting flexing in the third entry - I like the subtle change of expression. A Home for Aged Rockers from tooquilos, which is my cue to turn down the volume before checking out the animated version - but no, a rather subtle soundtrack! I like all the reject gardens, and that’s some terrific dancing in the windows, even if the dancers’ feet are somewhat below ground level. When opening the gate, though, it would have been much easier for you to make a simple 3D extrusion in Photoshop and animate that opening. A sparse garden from Mariner - but as ever, the real work in this entry from our master of architectural restoration went into completing the buildings on both sides. Love those shadows. And a very serene second entry: but do the couple have to swim to that bench? A nicely made winding path from srawland, blending in remarkably well with the original background. Terrific parallax effect in the intro to the animated version, with a fine pair of hippies to follow. Your friend Tony has a great imagination! _____________________ Incidentally, if anyone’s looking for cutout images of trees, I found a large selection here. Navigate the Japanese at your peril. |

Re: Challenge 718: The Peace Garden
Thanks Steve, the "cute guard dogs" have little to worry about, their cousin 'Dobie' is watching over them from the background shadows... ![]() |

Re: Challenge 718: The Peace Garden
Thank you Steve. I hadn’t thought of extruding the gate in PS. I had a few other songs in mind but had to consider the neighbours ![]() _________________ Wicked Witch of the West:I'll get you, my pretty! And your little dog, too! |

Thanks Steve. I wouldn't call myself a master of anything yet as I still have a lot to learn, but I thank you anyway. |
