Last one! This from Moonrise Kingdom. If you like the style and are on instagram there is an account called Accidentally Wes Anderson that is worth a follow http://www.instagram.com/accidentallywesanderson/?hl=en

I both love and hate Wes' movies.

"Moonrise Kingdom" was a hate. I felt what should have been a delicate 'coming of age' movie was trampled on by style.

But with "Hotel Budapest", which is a kind of fairy tale, all the magic came alive.

Best yet was "Isle of Dogs". His 'proscenium' style photography is perfect for animation. It managed to be charming, engaging, and, for Wes, fiercely political at the same time.

But the way we all see things differently is what makes them so fascinating.

The latest in production (actually shooting now), is black and white. Now that could be interesting ........

He can be very mannered I agree - personally I am not a fan of the Royal Tennenbaums or the Life Aquatic but thought Isle of Dogs very interesting. Cannot imagine what a b&w wes film would be like but good to see him getting out of his comfort zone

Very nice Anna.

It sure makes me impatient for winter to be over and done with.

I'm probably not going to have much time to submit until May or so. I do pop in to have a look at what everyone has been up to.

Sorry no time for an animation or really a very good Cheat.

Re: Challenge 739: Building on sand
First to venture onto the beach this week was Josephine Harvatt, with a neatly straightened-up building - although those palm trees opposite are still leaning into shot. A classy paint job helps, but the painter has missed a bit… desaturated sky in the second entry is better, but the horizon is still wonky.

I like lwc's slow zoom out, with added seagulls (nice wing flap) and extra palm tree. And all perfectly perpendicular, too. An interesting technique in the second entry, with the cloud texture moving but the cloud staying in place - and it looks like you’ve use the Clouds filter there. A great filter, but lousy for clouds, I find. Good moths. And I did enjoy the third entry.

Fantastic building extensions from DavidMac, following the original perspective - beautifully made, and the one on the right in shadow is perfect. I like the use of the Displace filter on the sigh (although a little extreme on www). And those cars are well placed. I know what you mean about Photoshop 3D - but I still like it more than any other 3D app.

A nicely straightened scene from Linda Eckert, with added graffiti to make the building more interesting. Good use of the garden in front. The man on the top, though, is about twice the size he should be - look at the people just below the horizon.

A clever entry from GKB, with demolition crew in place and a fine part-demolished building. 8 out of 10; it would have been perfect if you’d reconstituted the demolished building to exactly match the shape of the original.

Outstanding work from Ben Boardman, who has both straightened and smartened up the building, as well as adding a food outlet (great lighting and shadow there) and several other seaside amenities. I particularly like the distant beach umbrella and bathing platform, almost hidden in the trees. Beautifully done, Ben. Is the Dirty Dog Bar a real place?

I greatly enjoyed Frank's entry, with its flying debris, faded sign on the building and excellent foreground barriers. The only problem for me is the Wrecking Corporation sign - shouldn’t this be in shadow too, as it’s facing away from the sun? It seems much too bright. Otherwise perfect.

Strict border control from Ben Mills, with serious intent. The position of the gun relative to the but makes it seem to be floating in the air - easily fixed by chopping the hut off just below the Border Agency sign. What’s that on the horizon?

A beach idyll from tooquilos, with a rather attractive house on stilts. A clever sand-wiping intro to the animated version, and that Airbnb choosing screen is ingenious. Beautiful animation on the trees and clouds - I’d say those birds are flying dangerously low, though. Glad you’ve saved me a sunset drink. Very entertaining!

A major tidy-up from Mariner, who has brought the developers in with major replanting and urban improvement. A few comments on this one: I wonder if the view of the bar top quite matches the perspective of the road behind; I feel we should be looking down on it slightly more. The women on the stools seem to be holding their legs up in an uncomfortable way; they need something to rest their feet on! And I’d tone down the skirt on the woman behind, as those over-saturated tones tend to look artificial.

A “quick paint job” from Ant Snell - but it’s perfectly achieved, and certainly makes the building fit better into its surroundings. I like the couple walking towards the camera, but they should be more in shadow given that the sun is behind them.

Glad to see srawland back, with a rather fine hotel location - a great improvement. It could really do with a straightened horizon, though! Hope you manage to do more Challenges before May. Why so busy?

Re: Challenge 739: Building on sand
Thanks Steve.

I wasn't happy with the clouds, but left them in anyway. They overwhelmed the scene so much that I doubt anyone noticed the parrot in the upper right.

Yes. I noticed this when it was nearly too late to change it, then I thought, what the hell, it's still on message!

Agreed, but I couldn't think of anything. Any ideas?

Agreed. A common fault of mine.
