Great entries everyone!! http://vimeo.com/313958063 The shadows and highlights are all over the place in this one I used the people from the cutout site that David recommended. Great collection of people and positions. Thank you David for that link. ![]() ![]() _________________ Wicked Witch of the West: I'm melting! I'm melting! |

Very nice Anna, I really like the use of the 'cave'. |

Terrific Anna! Looks like you have played the odd video game or two ...... ![]() The shadows that come with the people are not very useful in my opinion. They are consistent with their lighting. But that of course is not necessarily going to be useful for where you want to use them in your image. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

I love the way you have used patterns instead of just colouring Frank. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

I find it fascinating to see how the multi racial possibilities of this have changed from image to image. An aspect of making sculpture of every day people instead of military leaders? _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 740: Statuesque
This is not a good entry but I attach it out of interest. It is my first attempt to use an app called Clip Studio. It is aimed at comic strip and manga artists. Although basically a 2D app it includes 2D looking figures which can be manipulated in 3D and posed. It's not as easy as it looks. This is my first ever attempt. It exchanges files with photoshop with layers etc intact. I removed the existing figures in PS then ported that across to Clip Studio as a background. Once I had created the figures I ported back and manipulated the figure layers to create some very crude light and shade in PhotoShop. Clip Studio does include it's own lighting tools but I haven't got to grips with them yet. It's my very first day. Fun to try but I am not sure it's an app I am likely to pursue. ![]() _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Unfortunately, I'm very pressed for time until May. If I get the chance, I'll post something. I was hoping to do all of the figures but I really only had time for one. ![]() _________________ I'm still learning. |

Re: Challenge 740: Statuesque
A busy week for lwc, starting with a simple fade into tinted clothing - a rather subtle effect. I like the island tour in the second entry, with added iPhone; and great colouring and animation in the third entry, which is ingeniously filled with those underwater figures. Fantastic work here. A touch of politics from GKB - and very nicely done too, wall and all. It’s only the sombrero on the ground that throws the perspective out, which is odd because I think I found the same PixelSquid object that you used: ![]() I like the placement of the cave from last week’s Challenge in the second entry, with the Trump Baby inflatable - although it is a little odd that all the sunlight is inside the cave rather than outside it. But the third entry features a splendid piece of carpentry - I like how they’re all studying the instructions. A finely chosen set of gender-shifted poses from Ben Mills, fitting very neatly into the scene. That girl on the left could really do with a cushion, though. A quick gag from DavidMac, and most entertaining. Square thought bubble, though? Hmm. An impressive balancing act in the second entry - very nicely interwoven! And most interesting to see your Clip Studio version - that looks well worth checking out. A splendid transformation from Josephine Harvatt, bringing the figures vividly to life - really convincing, especially the white shoes and faces. I like the added hat. Great job. Remarkable realism from Frank, with great new heads perfectly chosen for their angle - and character. I like the textures of the clothing especially. Good work, Frank. A curious sci-fi entry from tooquilos, with an especially baffling helmet on the far left that seems to contain another tiny helmet inside it. Perhaps all will become clear in the animated version… and we see some rather fine space scenes, and a neat scene with the astronauts sitting around a fire, the wreckage of their craft in the background. A fine sense of atmosphere here, with great wind. I like the weird portal thing, and the alien hieroglyphs. Not at all sure about the orchestral version of Nights in White Satin. Some great textures from Ant Snell, producing some very cool clothing. I like the transplanted heads, although the guy in the middle seems to have rather extreme shading on his face - especially since the ground shadows suggest that the light is coming from the right, rather than the left. Linda Eckert has a great eye for texture, with some splendid clothing chosen here. Best of all is the selection of hipster heads, which fit the scene perfectly and really unify the image. And I like the fact that the one in the middle is not wearing socks. Outstanding, Linda, this really is fantastic work. A touch of military action from Mariner, with a somewhat less pacifist group than the original. Excellent textures and choice of heads, and the added weapons are nicely integrated. The sofa made me laugh, though. Excellent, Michael. Glad to see srawland managed 25% of this week’s Challenge - sorry you’re so pressed for time! But with socks like that I’ll forgive anything. |

Thank you Steve - it was a lot of hard work but very satisfying. I had to give him a hat - I could face having to transform yet another plastic wig! _________________ I'm not really bad - I just draw that way |

Thanks Steve. I was just glad that I remembered to add reflections in the glass of the underwater entry. |

Re: Challenge 740: Statuesque
I wasn't very happy with this weeks entries. If you want to take a look Clip Studio Paint is here. Needless to say I have the cheap 50$ version. There is a free modelling plugin for it as well. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |
