Very nice Loyd and quite close.

Here's the real thing .......

How many of you remember those cute 'flippers'?

(Loyd and other non anglos: Prior to the advent of the flashing direction indicator lights of today, 'flippers' were what we Anglos called the direction indicators that popped out of the side of the car.)

Nicely done Loyd, and David the real thing is pretty cool - a lot of fun and a lot of work for a short clip.

Thanks David & Frank.

Great to see the real video, awesome! I didn't note the wet street or I might have included the water spray.

The "flipper", but of course... perhaps the Semaphore Trafficator should be brought back for modern cars.

Spring has got get here soon, I'm going "nuts" with the weather being too cold for golf.

I think I had more UK TV than Loyd, but I have never heard of this "Carry on.." series. Will someone please enlighten me? Acorn, which carries many obscure (to Americans) British comedies does not carry "Carry on..."

Maybe just as well Sara ……

The “Carry on Series” were a set of about ten movies made in the 60's and 70's uniquely for movie theatres. Of course they later got TV screenings but this was not their target audience. They were fairly lowbrow, smutty movies based around questionable puns and sexual innuendo. But they had a certain innocent charm and, for all their vulgarity, we loved them ……….

The nearest TV equivalent I can think of is “The Benny Hill Show”. This was a massively successful global export which, for most non Brits, defined British humour. Frankly this was a terrible shame as there was a huge output of genuinely clever and amusing British comedy in the same era.

I am curious to know how many of the following are known to you or Loyd? (Obviously I know full well that certain will inevitably be known, but others, which will be instantly recognisable to Brits, will probably not be).

Monty Python’s Flying Circus.
Fawlty Towers.
Morecambe and Wise.
The Two Ronnies.
Rising Damp.
Only Fools and Horses.
Some Mother’s Do ‘Ave ‘Em.
Steptoe & Son.
To The Manor Born.
The Good Life.

This a short personal list but I sure other Brits here will want to add or subtract ….

Obviously there were equivalent American imports as well. But, purely on the basis of personal memory, not many impacted very strongly on me. Things like the “Munsters”, or “Bewtiched”, or “Beverly Hillbillies” didn’t really do it for me at all but, on the other hand, “The Rowan and Martin Laugh In” (in many ways a Monty Python predecessor) and “Mash” had a huge impact. They were the one’s I stayed up to watch.

Sorry ………. rambling at too much length …………

Thanks for the explanation.

So would my animations of the three ladies dancing the Macarena be something "Carry On.."-ish?

The list:
Monty Python - I think you would have had to grow up Amish not to know this one and I'll probably be corrected by the Amish that they are big fans.

The other ones on your list I know are:
Fawlty Towers
To the Manor Born
The Good Life - I often wonder what happened to the actors from this series. I know Penelope Keith went on to "To the Manor Born" but what of the rest of them?

Steptoe & Son - I think this one got remade in America as Sanford & Son because it was exactly the same premise only different accents.

I'm surprised you didn't mention
Dad's War and the Goodies

David,

I know none on your list other than:

The Benny Hill Show
Monty Python’s Flying Circus.
Fawlty Towers.

Locally these were all on the Public Broadcasting Channel (PBS). I suspect that the fellows of Monty Python’s Flying Circus watched many a Benny Hill and Laugh In show.

I must say that although I didn't always understand some of the jokes in any of these three shows, they were great fun and today I miss seeing them. If they were currently being shown I would watch every one of them all over again.

Sara,
If you do a search try "Carry On Gang" and you should get lots of info. Here's a link to some of their clips. I used to enjoy their antics.

I believe the site owner mentioned a Morris Minor

I have had four and half months of commitments plus I still have health issues: hence, my absence

Morris Minor on steroids and it's a two-framer

Great to see you joining the WC Mr. Sinclair... I have missed seeing your work!

Nice Morris Minor... although for some reason I have an urge to scratch "wash me" on it.

Welcome back Michael.

For just two frames that is surprisingly effective.

I remember watching some of the Carry on movies many many, years ago. My main memory is Sid James. In my version, I have updated all the characters

Michael, I am pleased you are back and I hope your heath issues are resolved soon.

David, I like your RIVALS version. Great!!
