I thought I would refine my Prone Meteor image to give a more polished aluminium-like finish and delete the gun ports which were removed on the original aircraft to solve weight and balance problems.

Dan Dare. Oh my. I remember him! ..... and Digby and the Mekon!

Where did the price come from? In my young day I remember sacrificing ninepence of my one shilling pocket money!

Re: Challenge 816: Prone in Gloster
Flying prone made me think of Superman.

Now, in my mind, he always flew with both arms extended. So I was astonished, in picture researching, to discover that this is, in fact, extremely rare and that he is almost always shown flying with only one arm extended.

It occurred to me to wonder why ..............

But then I suddenly realised that, if you wear your underpants on the outside, the reason is obvious!!!

Lots of good stuff here. Steve didn't specify that we had to use the Fuselage. The font I used for the title is called Fat Cat and it came with 8 fat cat images.

Re: Challenge 816: Prone in Gloster
First to lie prone this week was DavidMac, with a glorious interpretation of the Messerschmitt three-wheeler. It’s the diagram on the side that really makes this for me. Ingenious. And a brilliantly realised second entry, a deceptively simple montage that really gets the point across. And a really funny fourth entry with Superman clutching his pants - although in that colour scheme, I think he’s pinched Batman’s.

A custom 3D job from GKB, and after all modelling 3D planes is what Gordon does best. Is there a hole inside the front cockpit for someone to lie in, though? Better in the second version, I think.

Following last week’s mention of flying toasters, lwc has added the cockpit to them to rather splendid effect. But it’s the second entry that really impresses me: the wavering dials, the shifting lighting, and especially the endless sky are absolutely perfect - oh, and the reflections in the glass make it all real. Outstanding, Loyd. And I like the subtlety of the helmet in the third entry.

An interesting plane from tooquilos: the angle of the wings seems to be rather jauntier than the angle of the cockpit. Maybe a bit of a twist needed?

A fun animated version, with there Northern Lights showing in the first scene - although the plane seems to have lost its second wing here. I like the animated Christmas presents, though.

A fine flying car from Frank, with a real sense of movement. You’d really need to make sure the engine had stopped before getting out of that one, wouldn’t you.

I like Josephine Harvatt’s Dan Dare cover, the plane making a great rocket behind him. But - 95p for Dan Dare? It used to be ninepence.

A neat prone couch from srawland, with a fun animated version (great font, by the way). I really enjoyed it. One thing occurs to me: if you placed another version of the couch behind it, moving slightly slower, would it give a 3D parallax effect to the couch?

A splendid racing car from JimH, with the front gunner moved to the rear. I can understand his aghast expression - that engine’s running hot!

Once again michael sinclair has veered off topic, ignoring the instructions and giving us an admittedly rather entertaining tank. The left tracks are excellent; the right ones not quite there, I think.

Thanks Steve. Once I got into it was great fun.

Incidentally my first image where I mentioned "wild stuff out there" was not just an example of "wild stuff" it was a D Mac comp from a test prone pilot rig and a splendid old Alpha Romeo. The fact that you apparently took it for real I shall regard as a sincere compliment!

Thanks Steve, I enjoy making the cockpit instrument versions when possible.
