I saw The King and I and The Magnificent Seven but I didn't like his character in either of them. He died of lung cancer in 1985. |

Re: Challenge 820: The dressing room
First to tackle the mirror was DavidMac, with a neat reflection - although, of course, the word MAKEUP does need to be facing the other way. A clever way around the legs issue. A fantastic second entry, in the Chinese movie set. Almost perfect: I had doubts about whether we should see the reflected spotlight, but the only thing I’m sure is missing is the reflection of the makeup box. A terrific entry from Ant Snell, featuring kinky boots - amazing that you managed to fit him into that chair, and the colours match perfectly. A good stab at the reflection in the mirror, but if you think about the way it’s angled it would reflect his arm, rather than the boot. A forest scene from tooquilos, with rather beautiful lighting. I might question the use of a forest of conifers as ground cover, though, especially as the perspective of those tiny trees is at the opposite direction to the rest of the scene (we’re clearly looking up at the trees). A splendid animated version, with all the feel of a music video. Who is the woman? Should I recognise her? A powerful and rather moving image from JimH, which I now see is titled Haunted Room; I’d seen it more as a psychological self reflection. And a good stab at the shadows in the second entry, but I think this is one case where a general soft shadow under the table would do better than trying to distort the precise image too much. Either way, this certainly earns you a belated title… I think Image Imaginator fits the bill here. A great cutout from Vibeke, with a fantastic setting and a well constructed reflection. I like the recolouring of the red to match the room, and the regal chairs; that cloak draped over the back is a real improvement on the original sheet. You might consider giving the reflection a phone instead of a magazine - and maybe a pink T shirt. It’s great to have you contributing regularly again. It’s off to the desert for Mariner, with a pensive Peter O’Toole in an outtake from Lawrence of Arabia. An immaculate cutout of the furniture, and expert placement of O’Toole. I’ve studied the reflection for some time, and can’t decide if the pose of the man on the right - Omar Sharif? - could produce that angle - and, on balance, decided he probably could. Expertly done. |

Thanks Steve. This one was great fun. Yes, that was a copy of Omar Sharif's head. |

Re: Challenge 820: The dressing room
Thanks Steve. This was much more challenging than I expected. There have been a number of comments on reflections. Here's my take on this. The actress is directly in front of the mirror. She is quite some distance back from it (her knees do not pass under the table). The camera is oblique and therefore reflects whatever lies behind her right shoulder. This is a purely subjective analysis with little concrete to go on. It is quite possible that some of the shoulder might reflect. It is, however, entirely consistent with Mariner's reflection as well. ![]() You are, of course, quite right about the make up box. Duh! _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Michael no one has mentioned the painstaking reconstruction you did to the chair with the towel; moreover, this would have taken you hours of work. It IS important to recognise merit when merit is due: there is a world of difference of a "quick 12-minute job" and a 12-hour stint. Consummate work Michael, and one of your best! ![]() |

Re: Challenge 820: The dressing room
Thank you very much Michael. Yes, it took me about 16 hours to reconstruct the RH chair, but I enjoyed every minute. The whole graphic took me six days at about 10 hours a day. I must be mad. |
