http://vimeo.com/602945636 Very imaginative and funny images this week. The sunset over the lake is gorgeous, Loyd. As is the Venice canals, Vibeke. Mariner, your guy is having the time of his life, riding the wave! ![]() _________________ Dorothy: Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore |

Not gonna help much when they realise they are sitting on the wrong side and quite possibly heading for a capsize! ![]() ![]() _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

What do you mean, the wrong side? Can't you sit anywhere you like? |

Re: Challenge 874: All at sea
Unfortunately, no you can't. You have to balance the wind pressure on the sails. In this case the set of the sails indicates sailing head to wind with the wind coming from the starboard side. That means the wind will tilt the boat the to the port side. In normal circumstances the crew would compensate for this by placing their weight on the starboard side. In this case, by sitting on the port side, they are adding their combined weights to the wind pressure which is likely to end in capsizing the boat to port. You first picture was absolutely correct in this respect with the man balancing a strong wind by placing his weight well outside the starboard side by leaning well back. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

vibeke & Anna, thank you! Thank you Frank, the ship's horn is great, I wondered what was going to happen after I heard it. Sorry about my theft of your shark idea, but I just couldn't help it... ![]() |

Re: Challenge 874: All at sea
Interesting to see that for all of us, still or animated, the trickiest weak point is the boat to water interface. Hard to do convincingly. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |
