Anna, I can't start your video, although I usually can. Vimeo is saying:

Sorry, we couldn’t find that page

Make sure you’ve typed the URL correctly, or try searching Vimeo. You could also watch one of the videos below instead.

But there are no videos below.
It could be my fault, but Gordon uses Vimeo and I can start his animations without even logging in to Vimeo.

It's not you Michael, I have the identical problem.

Loyd is that Ike with his back to us in the background?

David - Yes, that is Ike.

I was just fortunate in finding character images, and they were all in color.

Perhaps some might prefer the original in Kodachrome... I am amazed that there were any color images from WW2 at all. With an ASA rating of 10 and complicated processing it must have been difficult at best.

David Mac - you're too modest - hard act to follow
Welcome back Ant - like the theme
Michael S - as expected but must say "Wonderful Bombing" job
Loyd - looks real - nice sourcing
Anna - couldn't open - will try later
Agree with Anna and David - found it difficult to source for this one .
Not overly happy with this one:

Re: Challenge 883: Malta at war
Can’t participate again this week as I am busy with other commitments. Hopefully next week ….

I,too, have issues with Anna’s videos. Occasionally it happens with my own videos but not to the same extent. My workaround is to use Vimeo’s download facility which will open the video. Just click on the download button on the video’s page and select a viewing resolution.

Good work so far although I might take issue with US personnel in the ops room 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧😄

I don't know what is going with Vimeo. I can access the video through my desktop but not the laptop. Strange.

Anyway, I've uploaded again. Let's see what happens this time.

Not sure why. It's nigh on impeccable to my eye.

I had no problem. I do have a Vimeo account but I have no idea if it recognises that when I simply view a third party video.

I am now doubly impressed. Given that you found such good images in colour I think I might have kept them that way but with some de-sat.

Difficult, because we so often treat monochrome and de-sat as a way of indicating past times that they have become a stereotype.

Sometimes we just can't avoid the traps and have to use them.

Thanks David, had to push myself for inspiration on this one for some reason. I was going to put a speech bubble in it "warning of activity around the Michael Sinclair's silos" but he beat me to the draw.
Anna - got it to open - good and unique take on War Games, I think I've played them all , Snakes and Ladders was a popular one as was Monopoly of course. Liked the rotating board.

I don't get much time to do these anymore so here's another rushed one... This is Popeye at war with his addiction!

Re: Challenge 883: Malta at war
First to fill the war room this week was DavidMac, with an astonishingly realistic scene. It’s the lighting, of course, that makes it work so well, but the figures are remarkably well chosen and positioned. Literal minded? Maybe. But what a spectacular result.

Great to see Ant Snell back, with a political commentary - I do like all those Covid mines. Perhaps a slight excess of floaty viruses? Keep them coming, Ant.

A doom-laden, pulsating cloud from michael sinclair hovers over the city, before dropping its load and, as ever, wreaking havoc. I like the destruction of the room in the final image, and the use of those ventilation channels.

A well populated scene from lwc, with Eisenhower in the background. The two soldiers at the front spoil the scene for me: partly because they’re staring at the camera, and partly because their placement ignores the geography of the room (and especially the table). I prefer the kodachrome version, though. I did enjoy the third entry with all the Simpsons characters.

Looks like tooquilos has been clearing the table - beautiful lighting! A very atmospheric walk along the entrance tunnel in the animated version, and I like the way all the board games spin into place. The rotating snakes and ladders board is really funny.

Very fine lighting from Frank, and a good set of characters populating the room. The man in the back office should be at the same angle as the wall in this room, though: putting someone square on to the camera always breaks the illusion. I like the new map.

I enjoyed Josephine Harvatt’s game of Monopoly, hinted at by the fan of property cards in the foreground. Are the people behind the table standing on boxes? There’s an obvious technical error here, though, and it’s the placement of the shadow beneath that outstretched arm. Shadows always need to meet the object that’s casting them when it touches the surface they’re on!

It’s Popeye time from Born2Run, with splendid assortment of stacked spinach cans. And is that Wimpy in the shadows? Great perspective on the new table surface.

A major room conversion from Mariner, who has knocked through the wall to reveal a panoramic view of Malta. Beautifully done, as ever, but I do need to point out a couple of inconsistencies. The woman drinking coffee on the far left is lit by bright sunlight, although she should be in shadow. The Secret Bunker sign is compressed horizontally, as can be seen from the distorted text and the relative thickness of the horizontal against the angled strokes of the arrow. The light between the left and right wall shadows seems to be converging. And the shadow of the left wall is longer than the height of the opening, which is fine - but it does mean the shadow of the woman should be longer than she is tall. Michael - do tell me if you find this sort of nitpicking irritating!
