I enjoyed visiting the Strawberry Hill House website. I'd added it to my list of go to places ![]() I laughed with yours, Dennis. All that's missing is the IKEA instruction booklet http://vimeo.com/675702654 ![]() ![]() _________________ Dorothy: Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore |

Cheers! After I had done it I read up further and found that the Castle of Otranto was inspired by a nightmare in that very bedroom - explains a lot. lwc that made me feel queasy for more than one reason Loving all these elegant beds people are finding ![]() _________________ I'm not really bad - I just draw that way |

Look here Mariner producing work of high quality is only going to encourage the site owner to do more of the same, so pack it in!...and...what about the bed? ![]() |

Mariner, that's spectacular. The sunlight on the mat is a fabulous touch. _________________ Dorothy: "there's no place like home!" |

Re: Challenge 893: Strawberry Hill House
Michael, I am so, so glad you liked it. If Steve gave us perfect photographs to play with then we would have very little left to do except to spoil them. I suspect you would like that. As for the bed, if you had done your research properly you would have found out that the room in the image is actuallyl known as The Breakfast Room, so a table and chair would have been more appropriate than a bed. Incidentally, I found your picture of Steve, a jew, being tied up and whipped by a christian man, insulting, and in no way "tongue in cheek", and I hope that in future you keep such offensive ideas to yourself, or find another site to dump them on. |

Re: Challenge 893: Strawberry Hill House
Thank you, Anna. I spent many, many hours on this picture and the time just flew by. Adding shadows always makes an image look more believable. Everywhere you look, day or night, there are shadows, so it's natural to put them in evrey montage if you want to add reality. |

Re: Challenge 893: Strawberry Hill House
First to deal with Strawberry Hill House this week was michael sinclair, whose solution was to show a photograph of a different house entirely. Ho hum. And I see you’ve taken your revenge, although it is perhaps a little excessive. DavidMac's “very simple quickie” is a work of near perfection. The angle of the bed, the fire and its reflection, and the firelight glinting off the end of the bed, are all spot on. My only small quibble is that the reflection in the bedhead is too white and just a little too big. A whole new meaning to the Man in the Iron Mask from Josephine Harvatt - and I don’t think Hercule Poirot would be stumped by this one. I really like that arm sticking out in the pool of gory splatter. The squatters have moved in, courtesy of Ant Snell. It’s beautifully imagined, with graffiti on the walls, a cracked mirror and scattered trash and sleeping bags. I like the ghostly Walpole looking on. Excellent, Ant. I really like the way the Walpoles are disporting themselves in Vibeke's entry, with its bed rather curiously blocking the door. Really nicely done, with a great reflection and a roaring fire. Those candlesticks could do with the wax clearing off! Lovely work, Vibeke. It’s party time from lwc, as Boris jigs along to a nightmarishly distorting background. Glorious! And horrifying at the same time. Major works from dwindt, with a remarkably complex bed construction in progress. Should have gone to IKEA! I like the weary pose on the woman, clearly ready for bed. A ghostly scene from tooquilos, with a splendid brass bed. A gloriously gothic animated version - I love the jiggling bed and the roaring fire especially. Small point: the bed dips behind the head of Walpole peeking in through the door. A splendid makeover from Mariner, the room beautifully restored and enhanced. I particularly like the bodies for Walpole and Mrs W. I would, however, take you to task over the two narrow doorways, which seem to the sloping down to the left. But the suggestion of light from the window does distract the eye well. |

Re: Challenge 893: Strawberry Hill House
The reflections in the bed head and near post came with the original bed. Already there. I missed completely that had I coloured them suitably they would have been entirely consistent with the candle. Woods and trees again. Thank Steve. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 893: Strawberry Hill House
Ha, ha. IKEA...how did you know. I had a triple garage some 30 years ago. I had 2 of them converted into a self contained cottage for my mom to live in. The Origen pine roof beams that came out of the roof were stored in the remaining garage rafters. As and when I need wood for a project, I pull a beam or 2 down, cut them into the desired lengths and use them for whatever is needed. Prepared properly, it is beautiful wood. My contribution to recycling....lol. Nice work everybody and thank you Steve. _________________ The grass is greener on the other side of the fence because there is more $hit there. |
