Really didn't like the fence on the last post so I built one in 3D. ![]() _________________ ![]() |

Thanks, David. I did think of adding motion blur but I was never comfortable with it. |

Great and some funny entries again, love the Taming Of The Shrew, Gordon's jumper, Mariner's pole vaulter - all quite unique. A few good anis Loyd. http://vimeo.com/697051258 |

Lovely images and clips everybody. Love the pole vaulter Mariner. That's a shrewd way to get over the bar...lol. _________________ The grass is greener on the other side of the fence because there is more $hit there. |

Re: Challenge 901: The Taming of the Shrew
First to tame the rodent this week was Ant Snell, with a well-conceived circus setting. Viewing the action through bars adds greatly to the sense of danger. Surely, though, an event as good as this should attract an audience? I liked DavidMac's action quickie. I did enjoy the mounted gnome, though, and the leap from the toadstool. Great composition. Bouncy action from lwc, whose shrew cavorts through the long grass - which also serves to obscure the lack of jumping action at leg level. Clever. Serious jumping in the second entry, complete with passing elephant. Now that’s quite a big shrew. And I see you’ve got those legs and tails twitching in the third entry. The two levels of sliding grass work really well to create the illusion of continuous scrolling movement. I like the dancing-key movement in the Mario-inspired fourth entry. Powerful stuff from GKB, and the comic relief at the end comes just at the right time. Very tastefully done, Gordon. Interestingly, I’d never heard the Ukrainian national anthem before, but there’s no doubt that’s what it is, even on first hearing. Terrific saddle, rider and especially harness in the second entry, with the shrew poised to jump. But - oh! Those shadows! If the sun is directly above, the one beneath the fence would surely just be a single dark line. And the shadow under the shrew wouldn’t show the animal above in profile, compressed. Think about your lighting directions! I like the new 3D fence in the third entry, but while the fence shadow now makes more sense it’s at odds with the one under the shrew. Complex lighting in dwindt's barn entry, with the shrew leaping out of the clutches of a marauding feline. There’s some curious stuff going on with the shadows here, but maybe that’s just the shape of the light source. I see no shrew in the first part of michael sinclair’s trilogy, despite peering into the cab. But there he at the controls of the tank, blowing up the Russian vehicle in the final part - with truly splendid explosions. I really like the wheel spinning off. I had to laugh at Mariner's pole-vaulting shrew - especially the way the tail is wrapped around the pole. Good work adjusting the lighting, too. Very cute. I see Frank’s been having fun with 3D titles. Careful not to overdo the sfx! Fabulous leaping action on the shrew, perfect choice of wallpaper and a satisfying thwack with the broom. I like how it has dog food in its mouth when it ends up as a trophy. |

Thanks Steve. Point taken about the fence shadow. i should have known better ![]() This is the original photograph that I based the jumping image on. I used the original shadow as it seemed the perfect fit. ![]() _________________ Always remember that you are unique - just like everyone else. |
