Re: Challenge 920: Seafaring photographers
Nice work everybody. ![]() ![]() Vibeke either reduce the foreground contrast and, or, reduce the stark blacks by using the Shadows and Highlights tool to match the "subdued" background and all will be well. ![]() ![]() |

Re: Challenge 920: Seafaring photographers
Well now Michael, as is often the case, I am not always a fan of your use of Highlight/Shadow. Whilst I appreciate completely what you are trying to do, I think you have rendered the image very slightly 'flabby'. I would have preferred that you adjust the background to the richness of the foreground. But that's of course totally subjective. I love dense blacks whereas you have a tendency to like them filled with detail. I love the way these challenges bring out not just different techniques but different perceptions too. Makes it all so much more interesting. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 920: Seafaring photographers
This is an attempt that, I certainly have no reason to feel bad about, but which I feel I have not really pulled off. I wanted to create a figure made completely out of water. This is not a creature rising out of the water, but the water itself rising and morphing into 'human' form. This is a venture into completely new territory for me and I really hope to hear your opinions and suggestions as to what I could, or should, be doing differently to give this more conviction. You can click to view large or click twice to view extra large. I have left it very high res so you can assess the positives and negatives in full detail. ![]() _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |
