http://vimeo.com/781702857 Some very funny entries. Michael, I do like your Lady Godiva ![]() Mariner, I think you have captured the perspective perfectly. I ran out of steam this week after another bloody bout of the dreaded bug. On the mend now though. ![]() _________________ Dorothy: "there's no place like home!" |

Re: Challenge 935: Ballroom climbing
First to climb the walls this week was DavidMac, with a fine array of dancers in a range of costumes, augmented by helmets, crampons and other climbing equipment. A fine clean-up of that cluttered background, too, and some great poses there. An ambitious second entry, and I do see the problem you’ve set yourself. A valiant attempt at a possibly impossible puzzle! A go at Lady Godiva from tooquilos - artfully posed. I like the rain and the horse in the animated version, even if it does seem to have a bit of a Michael Jackson moonwalk. An interesting second entry, with the addition of some serious foliage (but watch the cutoff of the grass on the right). A tremendous animated version, with the two enthusiastic dancers - but it’s the spinning disco ball and the dancers seen through the window that really make it work for me. A glorious Godiva from Frank, who’s doing a bang-up job of distracting those climbers - what a great way to combine the two images! Beautifully done. And a very tidy cleaned-up background. I enjoyed lwc's horse in the window of Godiva Tailoring, with its glimpse of Lady G having sneaked out the back for a cigarette. But I do think you should glaze your window: ![]() I see catastrophe has ensued in the second entry - a neat way of depicting it. A splendid walking horse from michael sinclair, with Lady G jiggling about on its back and looking distinctly uncomfortable without a saddle. A few points: 1. Godiva herself could really do with some movement of her limbs, to make her look less like a shop window dummy. 2. It would be easy to patch the background to make a seamless scroll. 3. You really, really, really should consider outputting your work as a video file rather than an animated GIF. You’d get much more control and wouldn’t need to make so many frames. I like how Ant Snell has moved the climbing wall to the outside, with some very inventive methods of entry. The disco ball sets the ballroom scene nicely, too. The man hanging from the canopy works really well; I’m trying to get my head around the contortion needed for the man climbing in through the window, and have come to the conclusion that it’s probably anatomically impossible. A tricksy perspective from Mariner, looking down from the top of the wall - and the pose of that climber is absolutely spot on. Just one small technical point: the handholds used by wall climbers are very much smaller than you’ve depicted them - all of them are smaller than a fist. |

Re: Challenge 935: Ballroom climbing
Well done everybody. I had my image set up in a file at work ready to finish yesterday but yesterday was extremely busy. I forgot to bring it home to complete last night. I'll have to see if it's not too below the belt when I got back after leave in 3 weeks' time. _________________ The grass is greener on the other side of the fence because there is more $hit there. |

Great images everyone. Sorry but couldn’t come out to play this week and probably not next week either. _________________ Have you ever noticed that all the instruments designed to detect intelligent life are pointing away from the Earth? |
