That's very clever, Frank and Loyd. I would never had thought of putting a pool behind the windows.

Thanks Michael S. and Anna - took a little head scratching to figure out where to put a pool
Michael S. - I'd keep my head low in that bar - a little wake turbulence to stir your drink
Cool Pool Ben - looks inviting
Anna - is that Michaels airplane returning - like your dancers

Lots of very varied entries this week.

Been looking at this all week and I have to confess I found myself completely at a loss for anything but the obvious. Then the curved shape suggested something ............ but I've left it too late to devote much time.

Nice work everybody.

Anna, I love your spacious concept regarding the swimming pool: it's thinking out of the box, excellent! Though, shouldn't that plane have landing gear?

Michael, again love your spacious concept: beautiful!

Stunning stuff, all of you.

I got caught up in too much to chew. I wanted to recreate the artwork on the walls for a 3D re-build but it was hard to see what was going on. Anyway, 2 images took too much time, I only rendered half an image (the pool and center court with sunk in dining area). The left and right, among others, is 2D.

The first image is what I made out of the rear image...I mistook the skier for a light house. The adjoining image is my version of the middle image on the left wall.

and the 2nd image is everything combine.

Just spotted a horrible mistake...lol. Let's see who identifies it. It's pretty subtle though; I hope! (In my last image. It has nothing to do with the summersaulting light in the retro images...lol)

Reflection of the lights? … is there a prize?😱

Oh no, that to...in the glass around the pool. Damn!...and I've got a palm tree growing through the wall into Joe's! I initially had it right but it obviously got away from me!

Re: Challenge 938: Poolside Cafe
First to take to the pool this week was Josephine Harvatt, with a pool pun – well, someone had to do it. A neat bit of positioning obscures the man in the background.

It’s high summer with Ant Snell, cleverly turning the glass barrier into the wall of a swimming pool. Those three women fit perfectly sitting on the edge, and I like the beach ball, beach huts and the sand. Something a little unnerving about the man with his back to us, but I can’t quite work out what it is.

A fascinating take from lwc, with mermaids swimming in the tanks at the back: beautifully done, Loyd, and the animated lighting and bubbles add a lot of interest. I like the extended sign, too. Good work.

It looks like GKB has flooded the whole of Stansted Airport. A very fine piece of work, with great reflections: I was particularly taken with the spume around the man on the right, who has gained a couple of suitcases on a trolley but not a hand to push it. I’d sack the chef, though.

A clever take from Frank, whose pool – glimpsed through the hexagons – reaches all the way to the top of the building. A really ingenious use of those upper windows, with the people expertly placed behind the glass. Terrific.

“Gordon might like this one,” says michael sinclair of his pool on the runway – but I suspect our resident retired air traffic controller would be horrified by the prospect. Nicely done, though, and I especially like the fact that the plane casts a shadow on the scene as it passes overhead.

A crowded pool from Ben Boardman, with just a vestige of the original scene glimpsed as the interior of the beach hut. I like the array of characters, but with a scene like this you do need to check your lighting: look at the two men on the left, both with similar tans, but very differently lit. Easy to fix:

An outdoor setting from tooquilos, complete with palm trees. I like the rippled view through the glass wall, and the clever way it has been extended to the left. A terrific animated version - those two dancing girls really bring it to life, and I like the continuity of the plane in the first scene reappearing in the second. Hated the music though!

Mariner has gone all Zen, with a scene of great tranquility. An ingenious rebuild of the inner ceiling, and I like how the glass wall now forms a roof. Those low flying planes are going to spoil the mood, though.

A movie setting from DavidMac, the dominant foreground almost concealing the expert relocation of the cafe to a proper poolside setting. Very good matching of perspective. Not sure your shadows really tally with the light on the back of the pool wall, though.

Extraordinary attention to detail from dwindt, even going so far as to rebuild the posters on the walls of the original cafe. The result, with the shift in view, is splendid: perfectly rippled reflections, and great lighting. Really good work. The only small mistake I can see is the wrong angle of the reflection of the glass wall, but it’s far from “horrible”!

Excellent work this week.

Or maybe you’ve moved the scene further from the airport?

Oh, I see. Ha! The airport is on the LHS of my picture, just out of sight!

Thanks Steve, it was a fun challenge.

This weeks banner choice was a surprise, it was one of my favorites when first made.

Yes. Very fair comment. The blue sky is my addition to look more tropical. The original image was very flat and grey with clouds and no sun. So there isn't really a sun direction at all. By chance the 'Mr. Cutouts' I added to populate the pool all had strong sun from one direction so I (not very expertly) used that as my cue.
