Jo - , same true in Canada
Loyd - looks like an authentic photo, good idea the new hat
Ant - looks good
Dennis - great image , looks good to me - try Mariner's suggestion and no more size restrictions
Anna - great idea on your bone collector, nicely done
Mariner - a long way from the battlefield, I see a tremendous amount of work, time, and detail put into this - go get some rest now.

Thanks Frank and Mariner. Thanks for the heads up on a work around. It would just be another password to forget though...lol. That's a grand rebuild by the way.

Thank you, Dennis. I think your embalmed man is excellent. Did you make the cart/trolley as well?

Thank you, Anna. Yes, I did. A standard model without the canopy...lol.

Nice work Frank, Anna, Michael
But the star of the show is Dennis: very, very good

I'm afraid this the best I could do this week--not "bang on target" but close enough...eh Mr Caplin

Very good Michael, even if, like my entry, it's off message.

Re: Challenge 977: The embalmer surgeon
A touch of politics from Josephine Harvatt kicked off this week’s atrocities, with the Health Secretary perched outside the aptly-named Boris Johnson Ward. The lack of added ambulances in the background is particularly effective.

Vintage stuff from lwc, with a new patient and a civil war hat for the surgeon. The added background scene really brings this to life, and the scratched photo effect works perfectly. Immaculate work, Loyd.

It seems that Ant Snell has moved the location from the Civil War to the Second World War, judging by the uniforms. The postcard effect works well, but you do need to watch the density of the shadows: the woman in the foreground and the doctor have much blacker blacks than those seen in the background. And, er, why is the doctor skewed on a slant?

A host of replacement figures from Frank, using the ingenious technique of raising the stretcher on barrels to make it accessible from a standing position. The background is much better, and that period-perfect flag is a very neat addition. But why do the eye lines of the three people rise throughout the scene?

A creepy bone collector from tooquilos, with a replacement doctor who looks remarkably like the original. Has his tent partly turned to cement? The dog in the animated version adds a lot to the otherwise static first scene, and the rat in the second scene is very cute. But what does the doctor hope to gain from selling dug-up bones?

Excellent modelling from dwindt, with great poses and uniforms. There’s always something a little uncanny about Daz clothing, in the way the creases fall, but this is really close. The patient’s feet seem to be in an awkward position, though, and shouldn’t at least one of his legs be lying flat on the stretcher?

I see Mariner's doctor has gone up in the world – clearly earning more here than he did in the army. An astonishing reconstruction job, from the top of the doctor’s head the elegance of his tail coat. So much detail here – the hat on the case, the maid in the background, the shadows and lighting… glorious. One tiny point: if the maid has a reflection, then the table next to her should as well.

I’m used to michael sinclair’s entries being somewhat off-topic, but – as you say – close enough. Although it would perhaps have been fun to put them in the background behind the existing scene.

Thanks Steve. Eye lines differ due to camera angle pointed down is my reasoning.

Welcome home Steve. Thank you and well done everybody.

I tried to pose the patient writhing in pain but then forgot to create an indent under his heel.

Re: Challenge 967: The embalmer surgeon
Thanks Steve - There is in fact a whole line of ambulances waiting for admission just outside the shot

He's not selling them! He's a collector and like any collector he is searching for that elusive bone that will complete his collection. And once he's done, he puts it away and starts on something else It's the basic rule of collecting
