Loyd I love the concept of Fireball XL5 being powered by a radial piston engine. It cries out for animation … watch this space.

That should take a considerable effort... looking forward to it Gordon!

It will take a while as there is going to be a lot of rendering time but the engine is running already

Not really a submission but just for fun after Loyd's Fireball XL5.

It's only 45 seconds worth and not particularly refined and no prop blur as I had so little time.

Up to about 5ft diameter electric wind machines are the norm. Especially in the studio. But for heavy exterior wind old aircraft engines and props are still very common.

They are an absolute nightmare because even these produce limited effect unless quite close, but close it quickly becomes impossible for anything to be heard above the noise and communication is nigh on impossible except by signs. Modern noise cancelling headsets have overcome much of this for the crew but for the actors it can get truly hellish. For any protracted period it becomes totally brain scrambling.

Pretty neat Gordon, I really like the different views as it leaves the rail and is in flight.

Well, I have finished and uploaded three more. Here's one of them:

Model sailboats in NY's Central Park needed a little help with the wind.

Good, well done, fun entries folks. Nice work on your XL5 Gordon.
Mine doesn't spin but the crew are working on getting it ready.

That's great Frank! I've gone for a vintage look too.

Cue the Ennio Morricone music while the 2nd unit film crew sets up for a scene.

The aeroplane shown in this image is so rare that I suspect even Gordon will never have seen it before .......

.......... although the name might ring some bells.

The image is extremely large but, if you zoom in, you can make your decision as to whether dodgy soviet era
hand retouching is involved and join the debate as to whether the photo is genuine or not.

The use of Steves image is very furtive, but I have used it .... 24 times to be precise.

This one was a lot of work ...... but a LOT of fun!

Thanks Loyd and David.
David my thoughts are "Myth" - yes lots of work.
Loyd is that David the cameraman behind Clint?

Just dumb luck...

With a cruise speed of 60 mph and stall of 47 mph, it never had a chance David.

Yes, I remember doing an air-to-air shoot with the mark 1 version of this aircraft before they added the extra decks. i had to use a very high shutter speed for reasons long forgotten hence the lack of blur on the props. It was a spectacular sight when it came alongside the camera plane.

Now that is fast Gordon, and seriously impressive!

I was sure you would recognise the origins and spot the name-play.

Thanks David. As soon as I saw the image I knew I had to give it a bash.
