Like Gordon I love the concept Michael!

However you have made a rod for your own back as to really work the pattern needs to flex with the skin of the goat. That I fully appreciate is extremely difficult and not practical on the time scale of a challenge. Pity, because it's a great off the wall idea.

The only really practical way to do this would be to use a dedicated 3D programme like Cinema 4D. If I can find the time (unlikely for a while) I could give it a go.

But I still think it’s a great effort, though.

Thanks Gordon, David and Michael

Taking David's observation seriously, I have started from scratch and tried to get the pattern to move with the goat's body; however, whether I have succeeded remains to be seen

It's a very bold attempt at something probably best not attempted. Even if I was an animator I wouldn't want to go there! Where you have got to now shows just how extraordinarily difficult and complex it would be to go the whole hog!

Re: Challenge 1021: The pringle sweater
First to don the sweater this week was Ben Boardman, with a very appropriate Stephen Fry – excellent expression, and a perfect fit on those trousers. He does seem to have lost weight since last seen – a bit of Spherize needed on that belly! The golden wings entry is splendid. It reminds me of advertisements for Van Heusen shirts in the 1970s, which showed a girl wearing just a tailored shirt, with the headline “Looks even better on a man”. I don’t think they could get away with that today.

It looks like DavidMac has got the Bond bug. But yes, that is a good fit for Jill St John. And I have to say – stop sniggering at the back – I do admire your breasts. Very neatly shaped and lit. A fine belly for Donald Trump (although I think you might have retained the breasts here). I particularly like the embroidered name. What’s going on with the side of his collar opposite 2024? A brilliant Benny Hill entry, with a sparkling array of partly-dressed ladies (although the one front left seems to be looking past him). But what really stands out (oo-er, missus) here is the pose: the angle of the legs, the position of the hands, the expression on his face. Absolutely spot on. (Incidentally, I have been watching Kaos on your recommendation. Absolutely brilliant, many thanks!)

I don’t know whose head Frank has chosen for his entry, but he’s an absolutely perfect match for the pose. I thought perhaps his chin should project in front of the collar, but maybe you’re right and it’s better tucked inside. A very well chosen pair of trousers (sorry, I just can’t bring myself to call them pants. In the UK pants means underpants).

A curious ballet dancer from michael sinclair, but clearly comfortable in his tight-fitting sweater. Those tights don’t leave much to the imagination, do they. An extraordinary burqa image – and, yes, the child’s tears and blink do work well. Did you consider distorting the pattern with a displacement map? The walking goat is entertaining, but I can’t see how you could have curved the pattern around those walking limbs without a huge amount of effort. Aha! There we go! Well, that must have taken some time. Very much better – gold star for effort.

A batch of Pringles from GKB, following the obvious pun. I’m sure there’s a good reason why it’s a chimp wearing blue tinted aviators, but can’t quite put my finger on it. I like the Snoopy badge.

A great take on the Vitruvian man from tooquilos, complete with removal of the original arms. The split in the bottom of the shirt looks almost intentional. I like the mummy (both revealed and encased) in the animated version, and the treatment for the Rock makes a glorious string vest (which also fits the Terminator rather well). Splendid. But I agree, your take on the controversial King Charles portrait is one of the best.

Mariner's version of Jodie Comer as Vilanelle is nicely done, with a good modified pose. The bottom of the sweater looks rather too smooth, though; should it wrinkle a little more? And that’s a very odd choice of background!

The embroidered name is for real. It came from a Donald J photo.

The collar is a complete aberration.

A brilliant Benny Hill entry, with a sparkling array of partly-dressed ladies (although the one front left seems to be looking past him).

The two on the left seem to be sharing some private joke.

I had fun building all the shadows for this one too.

(Incidentally, I have been watching Kaos on your recommendation. Absolutely brilliant, many thanks!)

It really does seem to be a very original idea without any real precedent I can think of. It's so good when something really fresh comes along.

Thanks Steve, just a character I found on internet and figured he was a good fit for the challenge( pose, confident, patrician, pompous), His look seemed to fit the bill.
Trousers, pants, same thing over here.
