Yes Loyd, it's so subtle I can't see it at all!
And why is your picture so blurred? Is that deliberate?

Sorry it's so small Michael, there is a slight ripple on the surface of the water, the horse nods his head and swishes his tail. Would need to let it loop several times to see the movements.

Image is deliberate, given a soft-focus effect with a bit of lens flare in an attempt to give it a dreamy, lazy summer day appearance.

It looked far too difficult to reconstruct the horse’s head, so I went for reconstructing the entire stable instead.

At first glance, I thought this was going to be impossible but with a bit of perseverance it worked out okay (I think)

And for disclosure- I used generative fill for the bottom left hand corner of the image. The rest is mine.

The canal images are stunning, Loyd, particularly the soft filter.

I didn't know where David's one was going but once I got the bottom, I laughed out loud.

I'm sticking with ugly, miserable looking and plastic!

Sorry folks but once thunk I can't un-think it.

Haha I love it

Apologies for my extended absence - sadly life and the (ongoing) absence of a computer intervened.
Really enjoyed all your entries especially the horses ass and the nude horse is a rude horse even though I can’t appreciate their full splendour on a smartphone (and it’s an iPhone too!)
Looking forward to seeing you all next week

Ive just been looking at this again Anna. Do you mean that you drew all those stripes yourself. If so, it's quite extraordinary.

I wish I had to talent to draw all those stripes, David
As you can see from the screen shots, I removed the original horse by cloning the stable side and adding a brick wall, then placed the zebra which came from Rawpixel.com

The Shropshire Union Canal passes close to Norbury, a village close to Gnosall (pronounced knows all) where I once lived.

Tried to add some atmosphere to my final - not sure how successful. Tried various techniques , overlays, blending , radial gradients, etc.

I think that’s very well done Frank. Very interesting.

Re: Challenge 1079: A little unstable
First to get on their high horse this week was lwc, who has moved the horse to a more appropriate canal-side location. A good rebuild of the side of the head. I like the HotChiPs logo on the boat, and that’s a great mezzotint effect. Something rather odd about the perspective in the colour canal entry: the angle of the boat suggests a high eye height, which would make that a very low horse. Subtle motion, as ever, in the animated canal, with a nod of the horse’s head and a swish of the tail. Oh, and of course the river is flowing. Nicely done. I like the vignette effect in the non-animated version as well. The morning fog is rather beautiful, although there is something very odd about the perspective of that building on the left. Not sure it should be sloping down like that. It’s quite hard to make out all the work you’ve put into the animated version – there must be a solution to this low res Giphy problem!

A beautifully reconstructed canalside from Ben Boardman, resulting in an idyllic scene. I like the fact that the horse is chewing hay. My only issue here is with the size of the boy: given how big horses are, the boy appears huge. I don’t know what prompted the naked woman entry – Lady Godiva? With added nun? She does fit rather well on there, although it’s curious you should choose such a strong oil paint background without applying the same effect to the figures. Correction: zooming in, I see you did. But it’s not strong enough to match the background.

An intriguing entry from DavidMac that reads like clickbait, until you get right to the end – wasn’t expecting that! Cute. I must admit I’d never heard of SINA, but your clothed horse really is splendid. How did you create that bum-cover? Is it a miniskirt that you’ve repurposed? I like the newspaper montage that explains what it’s all about. A very thoughtful entry. The fibreglass dream is fun. I see you’ve added some trademark DavidMac-style tricksy lighting.

An attempt to break out of the museum for Ant Snell, who has moved the horse to a real stable. Very nice, with a particularly good continuation of the cobbled floor, but I do have some questions. Is that man welding horseshoes? Hardly a traditional blacksmith. Why does the canal boat appear to be crashing through the wall? And why is the dog staring at the wall of the stall?

A terrific stable reconstruction from tooquilos, the side ingeniously covered by a huge mound of hay. The zebra is brilliant, matching the pose of the horse perfectly. I think by separating the rear it would have been possible to make it better fit the perspective of the stable, but it wouldn’t have been easy. It behaves well in the animated version, and I like how you’ve added the shadows to the later animals (though they could be a bit stronger). For some reason the giraffe looks too high in the scene, and I can’t quite work out why. Curious. Very good to see how you rebuilt the stable – I do like these work-in-progress walkthroughs.

I’d been waiting all week to see what Mariner would come up with, and it doesn’t disappoint. The extreme foreground of the woman in the window of the boat frames the scene neatly, and the reflection in the window is perfect. I like the two men leading the horse, although the lighting does seem a little extreme on the one at the back. I must point out, though, that from this distance there would be much less perspective distortion on the horse. Its head looks tiny! Zooming in, I see you’ve added a lot of texture to mask the plastic. And I love that hand-drawn bridle and the ropes. Glorious.

A very evocative scene from Frank, with an immaculately rebuilt horse that perfectly matches the original, right down to the splash of white on its back. I love the misty feel. The replacement windows and cleaned-up floor are perfect. The only thing that bothers me slightly is the height of the man on the right – he does appear rather too small. Perhaps he’s a jockey? On the other hand, maybe it’s the man on the left who’s just much too big, compared to the size of the horse. The “atmosphere” is spot on. It makes the scene very coherent and intriguing.

Anna I realise I never responded to your very detailed reply to my Zebra stripe question. Been a bit frantic here. Thank you. Like Steve I love seeing sometimes how things are done.

Re: Challenge 1079: A little unstable
"Lady Godiva's Prayer" an 1865 oil painting by Edwin Landseer that depicts the legendary noblewoman praying before her famous ride through Coventry. inspired my entry - it has a horse in a similar pose.
I certainly fed the young boy too many Weetbix!
Thanks Steve.
