You brought a smile to my face. Well said Michael! She's waiting for Doctor Fill it. _________________ The grass is greener on the other side of the fence because there is more $hit there. |

Thank you David. The image before had to be tongue in cheek. Just look how wide I opened his mouth. Lol! _________________ The grass is greener on the other side of the fence because there is more $hit there. |

http://vimeo.com/1171988987?fl=pl&fe=sh I enjoyed reading the story about Painless Parker, David. I agree with David's comments about Dennis' entry. It's beautiful. ![]() _________________ Wicked Witch of the West: I'm melting! I'm melting! |

Re: Challenge 1095: A visit to the dentist
First to take to the chair this week was Ant Snell, the dentist’s equipment making a guest appearance in a Frankenstein movie as a lightning source. It certainly fits the gothic theme. I particularly like Dr F’s cheeky expression, although I’m curious as to why he has no legs. I see on your recent trip to London you visited the Wellcome Collection – as you say, the ultimate cheat is doing it in person! Ingenious. Beautiful work from lwc, the chair blending immaculately into the surgery. You’ve matched the colour, grain and softness of the background photo to perfection. The chair fits neatly into Ben Boardman’s entertaining assortment of steampunkery – Bee Gee Way? As in, you know, the Bee Gees? Looks like a fun place for lunch. I’d like some of those at home. An extraordinary history lesson from DavidMac, with Painless Parker (and I admit I’d never heard of him) performing live on stage, complete with brass band and dancing girls. With PP himself so far in the foreground in this image, he appears to be partially behind the curtain as far as the audience is concerned. Shouldn’t he be more centre stage? I like the expression on his patient. Highly atmospheric work from dwindt, with a gauzy dentist’s surgery surrounding the chair. You’ve got the lightning absolutely spot on here, Dennis, and your explanation suggests a lot of work behind the scenes. Do dentists need anatomical skeletons? Splendid. I like the nurse and patient in the populated version – just noticed the file name is Urgh_ah_agh_AH_Urghrr.jpg! – and the lit lamps work really well. But that dentist… there’s something about the pose that screams 3D model. The lighting on Betty Boop, however, is astonishing. That would be tricky to replicated in Photoshop. It’s a pessimistic dentist who has a coffin in his surgery, in tooquilos's atmospheric entry. I like the spatter of blood on the patient. Some curious perspective, though: the coffin is far in front of the chair, but the lamp projects in front of it… I see what you’re doing with the lights projecting forward, but moving the coffin back would have helped. That’s a very leaky mouth on Dracula in the animated version – and is that laser surgery? Love the spooky soundtrack. |

Ah, thanks so much Anna. When you're ready to tackle this very effective alpha plain tweak, let me know. You don't need to go to such lengths and create all the maps I described before, to get a convincing alpha plain. You only need 3 to 4 maps...and they're easy to do in Photoshop or similar. _________________ The grass is greener on the other side of the fence because there is more $hit there. |

Since he'a fraud and cheating his audience, the concealment is intentional! Well no .......... I am not going to get away with that am I? It's a very good point Steve! It was a unexpectedly difficult image to create having to find all the different elements and fit them into the perspective dictated by your image. I got so wrapped up with putting it together that I rather lost sight of the narrative aspect. But was great fun! Thanks! _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |
