I thought Kylie was an opossum. I just did a quick search to check and it seems to bear me out.

But you've made him into a splendid badger!

You are right, David. More research needed next time Michael. Still, he does look good as a badger so no regrets.

On the whole image in one go or on a layer by layer, character by character basis?
[/quoted]

Yes, layer by layer, character by character, David. The waitress outfit got altered along the way. I probably could have done it with rotate,

Re: Challenge 1098: Fox and Friends
First to get foxy this week was lwc, with the characters neatly moved around an appropriately-sized car. I think maybe Mrs Fox (sorry, haven’t seen the movie so don’t know the names) should really cast a shadow to her right, as she’s somewhat taller than the car. That’s a cute wing mirror entry!

A splendid bulldozer from Nick Curtain, which I imagine (not having seen the movie) is relevant to the plot. Perfectly arranged; I like how the people on the right are looking in the right direction.

It’s always hard to know what to do with characters who are all facing in the same direction, but Ben Boardman has got it exactly right: there’s a real interaction between them here, and the scene absolutely tells a story. As David points out, his loosened tie adds tremendously to his character – as does her new costume. Outstanding, Ben. Hole in one. I like the mashup with Shaun the Sheep, with the characters blending together very nicely. You may have got AI assistance for the second bar entry, but – well, it’s a beautiful scene. Even if they, you know, aren’t looking at each other.

Suddenly the poses of Mr and Mrs make sense, in DavidMac's ingenious entry. Is that background from the movie? Damn, I really should have watched it before today. The moved eyes do the job neatly. I enjoyed the tunnel entry – don’t know why you weren’t satisfied with it; perhaps it needs some individual light beams streaming through the open manhole cover? The maths class is very cute. I like the equation, although I’m still trying to work out your recipe for pumpkin soup. That’s a lot of chilli for a small pumpkin. Where did you find so many foxes from behind?

A dancing Mr Fox from Ant Snell – but do watch out for that compressed elbow! I like the jiggling motion in the Vimeo version. Dancing all alone, though? No friends?

I’m delighted to see tooquilos has got into the Rotate Object feature, to produce this image that otherwise, frankly, wouldn’t have been possible to make. The escaping bunnies in the animated version are fun! Now we only need Photoshop to tie in with After Effects so those rotated characters can be animated…

I was wondering how Mariner would approach this week, and I’m both surprised and impressed by this finely wrought entry. Changing those poses can’t have been easy, especially rebuilding her dress beneath the fold arms. Glad you managed to be dragged out of your comfort zone!

Back to school time for Frank, with neatly placed characters – and that’s quite a tortuous yoga pose. I like the one standing in the bus doorway, but he really should be more in shadow.

Thanks Steve, this challenge was well out of my comfort zone. I spent days DAYS trying to get thie picture to make some sort of sense and look less artificial. Their claws alone took me hours and are still not quite right. I mistakenly thought that Kylie was Badger. No matter, in the end it looked almost believable.

Re: Challenge 1098: Fox and Friends

Thanks Steve

I had not heard of this movie, or the characters before you set the challenge, so did some research.

Essentially, there is an ongoing feud between Mr Fox and the farmers because he steals chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys from them, namely Messrs Boggis, Bunce, and Bean, described as mean, wealthy, and vindictive. The Farmers reach the point of frustration where they decide to kill the naughty Mr Fox and launch a coordinated campaign to dig him out, shoot and starve him. The Farmers attempts reach no bounds with them holding nightly stakeouts and bringing in heavy machinery to destroy his home.

The feud never really ends. Mr Fox outsmarts them by going underground and finds a new way to feed his community however, the farmers remain above ground waiting for him, still angry and equally determined. The story ends with the animals safe for now, but the farmers’ hostility continues.

My idea was to depict provocation by Mr and Mrs Fox, whereby they decide to bulldoze one of the farmers gates and, once discovered, there is a stand-off between the parties. Mr Fox is standing behind them just in case it all kicks off.

Nick

Thanks Steve, I too have never seen the movie so was not quite sure on the various characters. A fly in the dark job.

The background is from the movie. Not sure where the idea to use them in it came from but it does fit. I thought you'd spot the eyes.

Not sure why I wasn't satisfied with the tunnel. The light beam idea is clever ........ but a lot of work.

I love hot stuff! The chillies are more me than foxy. To my surprise I was able to find quite a few fox cubs from behind.

This one turned to be much more fun than I expected when I first saw the image. Thanks!

Her shadow is there, the slight 'bump' on the cars rear fender shadow was to represent her left ear... the sunlight was almost directly overhead, and that's how I saw it. Thanks!
