Re: Challenge 1102: Meet the Merman
NOT AN ENTRY …. another David Mac not quite irrelevance ……

Composing my female merman mate reminded of this Polish movie directed by debut woman director Agnieszka Smoczyńska.

THE LURE was described by one reviewer at it’s 2015 release as “The best cannibal mermaid horror musical you will ever see!".

I have, in fact, seen it and it is seriously bizarre and morbid. Hans Christian Anderson meets Edgar Allen Poe.

Welcome to Daydream Island, Queensland. The redhead is my first Photoshop Mermaid - 2008. AI was used to help reconstruct his upper body - the rest is Barramundi.

This image is very nicely put together Ben. I like it.

But (this is not my AI antipathy but real curiosity) why AI? What for? I keep examining his upper body for something special, but he looks like typical beach or poolside beefcake that can be found anywhere dime a dozen straight off the peg. He's perfect for the image! ............ but what needed to be done?

It's a sweet little animation Anna but I am tempted to doubt his good judgement .........

I wanted to keep the original pose, after 600 images - including gay sites I couldn't match the pose

Re: Challenge 1102: Meet the Merman
First dive go underwater this week was Frank, with an AI-generated special – and rather pretty it is, too. Of course that much detailed texture could only be AI, but it’s a nicely composed image. And that’s one hell of a Mrs Merman.

A somewhat murky reconstruction from lwc, true to the original and convincingly submarine. The distance of the merman from the viewer means that plant on the right should really be in front of it – ah, there it is! Yes, exactly like that. Much stronger.

There’s something decidedly comic about DavidMac's interpretation: part goldfish, part sparrow and part yikes. I particularly like the teeth. And the hair. And the shadows of the hands are perfect. I like the Mrs Merman version, that translucent jellyfish neatly balancing the reeds. They could both do with a decent hairbrush.

Beautiful work from Ben Boardman, with a host of merpeople posing elegantly on the rocks. It’s like Love Island with fish. There’s something particularly sardiney about the man.

Our merman fits remarkably well into tooquilos's film poster, and the expressions on the creatures around him are splendid. Not having seen The Little Mermaid, I can only guess as the the authenticity of the animated version, but it certainly convinces me. A beautifully composed set of moving images… charming. So is our merman gay?

I doubt anything of the original image survives in Mariner's classy interpretation. Melony, Herman and Rupert? The dog is especially cute. For what it’s worth, though, the sense of it being underwater would be much stronger if the sunlight came in front of the bodies:

The bartender entry is splendid. What a great way to end the week!

I’m always a sucker for these split-level underwater scenes, and Frank's stunning entry is simply gorgeous. A really magical piece of work. And so please the Object Rotate tool is working well for you!

Thanks Steve. You added a blue overlay to the whole picture.
I tried that but, after some thought, decided to leave it off.

This one was fun, as trying to take the silly skeleton and 'clothe' it in a 'realistic' manner could not fail but to produce an absurdity! I wanted to take that idea and run with it. Thanks for a very entertaining piece of silliness Steve.
