Sorry Lexus. I agree with Michael. No reflection on the quality of your work which is of your usual high standard.

Understandable. The picture was not mine anyway, its from the famous Raptor Jesus collection found on the internet. From a similar set to LOL-Jesus pictures.

Wasn't sure on how many people would take offense to content such as that. I'll remember for next time

I found some of those Jesus raptor pictures absolutely hilarious and so impressively done that I printed them. And I'm a devout Catholic. I think it's safe to assume the man had a sense of humour...

Re: Contest 227: Grabby little hands
Hmmm, I have just been onto the Jesus Raptor site, and am so upset what I saw that the emotive tenor of what I'm about to say may produce a response from this site's owner.

Under a masquerade of so called humour the principles of Jesus Christ are quite clearly attacked by a mixture of foul-mouthed lanquage and pictorial obscenities--none of which can be repeated here.

I am extremely upset and offended (how far would they get with Mohammad I wonder).

Celia there is nothing remotely hilarious about the content of this obnoxious site, and I would also remind you that being a Catholic does not necessarily or automatically make you a Christian--the Mafia are Roman Catholics, but are they Christians?

Re: Contest 227: Grabby little hands
Not having seen Lexus's entry I do not know how offensive it was - however I do find it sad (in the original sense of the word) if we are all going to have to tiptoe round each others sensibilities when producing our images - we all have our "sacred cows" be it our religion, our political beliefs, or other ideologies after all.

Of course it is perfectly in order to say "I am unhappy with that image" but I do not think that the poster should then feel obliged to take it down.

As for the LOL Jesus and raptor Jesus sites I personally feel that they are not making mock of anything Jesus said so much as the often mawkish and crass commercial depictions of Jesus.
YMMV

Re: Contest 227: Grabby little hands
Michael, I was referring to one picture, as I clearly stated in my post. I did not mention anything about a website, did I? Nope. I mentioned one picture in particular, and I still fail to see what is so horrifying about Jesus holding a dinosaur. It wasn't biting him and it's hardly derogatory to anyone with a normal sense of humour. For pity's sake man, grow up.
I also never mentioned anything about any other religion, merely stated that I found the image I referred to amusing, even though I was Catholic. And I certainly shall make no comment on the Mafia, lest you jump to some malformed conclusion about that as well, and suddenly accuse me of being in league with anti- Christian Al Pacino's. Heaven forbid.

It was unclear to me from the start here, why there were no young people on this forum, or very few at least. Now I see why. You're not allowed have an opinion on here in case it upsets somebody. Freedom of expression has been banned til further notice. Beware the Christian Photoshoppers from the planet Zurg.

Steve, I think the world of you and I shall continue to read your books with glee and all due adoration. But I regret to say that this is just the silliest pile of shit I've ever witnessed, and I'm bowing out of this forum. I've had a great time here, and met some lovely people who actually have a sense of humour. Please send up a flare when the older dinosaurs have become extinct, and there's room for some free speech here again.
Thank you for all your kind comments and hints on my work.

Celia

Its not to worry, the picture I put up was not my own work and was taken from a Raptor Jesus archive, my original submission is near the top of the first page with the dinosaur and the wolly hat.

Celia & Michael.. you both have PM!

I hope whatever feud that is starting here can be resolved so we can return to having a free flowing forum.

This is a photoshop community and I didn't plan on turning it into a war between users over religious views based on the mentioning of a type of image that could be offense to some religions (Narrow-mindedly I did not see the offense to start with).

Alex.

Re: Contest 227: Grabby little hands
Josaphine and Celia, I defend your right to express freedom of speech (where we would we be without it!), It's just one ought to make a distinction about your right to express your views ( and my views too--let's not forget that too) and Christ and Christ's principles clearly being rubished.

Anyway, I would not like you to go Celia over this, and therefore I ask if you would stay on here, as you add a certain something (what is that French phrase) to this forum and you and Josaphine have always been flattering about my work.

Thirty years ago when I was your age I was an irreverent hooligan myself, but don't tell anyone that..

Alex to my utter astonishment you have been very mature and level-headed about this incident, and you have my respect in how you handled it.

PS I would love to see a photo of this fiesty high-spirited girl who thinks she's a Leprchaun!

J'ai ne sais quoi, is what you're looking for.

Would have been astonishing for me to acted in such ways when I first joined. I have since then moulded and become a proper human being

But going back to Photoshop, which is what we are all here for!

Loving the falling bricks image Jota! Very comical and a good execution!

Celia,

You should and ought to not leave.

It does not make sense. Why do this, make yourself unhappy, miss enjoying what you do and enjoying sharing with others. Your work is appreciated enjoyed by most of us I believe. Don't make this decision based on somes' misunderstandings. (This should never have become personal).

I think the forum is much brighter, broader, opener and ejoyable for likes of you, Alex, and our Chinese friends etc. others we don't see. and everyone else. (I'm still age agnostic )

General,

Time-out!!! I suggest just give it a break and get back to enjoying the forum.

Personally I thought the forum was for sharing our appliaction of Photoshop and enjoying ourselves, especially in the context of Steve's realm of work. The motivation to complete the work is the subject, but of course that is personal, some like other maybe not. That's ok. Personally, I still find entertaing and enlighting .

I agree with Josephine's first comment.

It worries me if if we have to be so careful on our subjects. We all have creative minds. Its an ART, insensitivity to arts images has a history.

My last comment on this. I did not come here for this topic of discussion.

BTW: Warning, warning!! its sure if this topic continues the forum will go or it will need moderator.

Trevor

Alex,

See comments to Celia and general.

Concerning, falling blocks: must admit that started from manipulating some stock photos! . Well .... I do love photography as well, so why not get the "old" digital camera to do some of the work too, though guess Mr C won't give many marks for that here, but there was a lot of manipulation!! (your not suposed to see it!) . Art!

Still enjoying your work too. I can learn from you, as others too.

Cheers, Trevor
PS don't leave.
