The Order of St. John.

Also the Order of Cheat as I had no idea how to do this nor what I was doing! Still a black flag hides all sorts of things.

The flag was drawn as a vector and PSD'd

To elaborate on Gordon's point - The flag you have depicted is the The Union Flag, also known as the Union Jack. It is the national flag of the UK, i.e. the British flag. Called the Union Flag because it symbolises the administrative union of the countries of the United Kingdom. It comprises the individual Flags of three of the Kingdom's countries, all united under one Sovereign. So it is a combination of the Flags of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland (since 1921 only Northern Ireland has been part of the United Kingdom). Apparently, as Wales was not a Kingdom but a Principality it could not be included on the flag. Isn’t Google wonderful!

I couldn't resist this, sorry.
This is one of the Cork flag variations, the logo currently used by the Cork Hurling team. Just for you Trevor.
(Just for information's sake, that's the Irish spelling of Cork on the flag.)

And yes I know there's issues with the stripes..

(Yay, Nick!{or is it "Yea?"})

Flags were humankind's first portable art. These are beautiful.

As for mine - too many stripes in red for blood. I notice that the barbed wire has different meanings for different flags.

I skewed a flag image to match the corners of the blue flag. I then cut the flag into four pieces, along the folds of the cloth. I warped the pieces to fit the blue flag and then did minor adjustments to the stripes with a smudge tool. After trying displace and liquify, I had to go back to good old reliable cut and paste.

Can someone explain briefly how that liquify method works?

I hope it's not bad form to show a tutorial from another source here.

I should try a displace filter on my flag and see which one is superior.

Here's my take on the Union flag (to be pedantic it is only when it is being flown froma ship that it is the Union Jack) - Is it a reflection of the multi-cultural nature of modern Britain or a pathetic attempt to distract from the many errors ?
You decide

Well Cl&m&nt....

I began by making a selection of what I thought the central cross shape would look like with the lassoo tool ... not worrying too much if I overlapped into the sky area
I copied that selection of the flag onto a different layer and then adjusted the hue in : Image - adjust - hue/saturation -
Then did the same for all the other shapes in the flag design.

Lastly I merged all the adjusted layers together and trimmed the edges where I had gone into the sky area using the original flag as a guide.

Et voila !!

Thanks for that Mad Lep. 100%score from me. I do not really notice the strips, Its dynamic so our eyes/brain do not care very much, they just formulate the image.

Celia knows I love Corcaigh. Deep in my heart.

Thanks so much for the home flag
