What a fantastic selection of ideas. What a creative bunch you are!I particularly like Simon's embroidered badge. Sadly I have a very busy few weeks ahead and am unlikely to be able to play at all. I hope to log in and enjoy everyones artwork, though.

Re: Challenge 388: A logo for the Map
First up this week was ahmedalij, with the first of several entries. I like the inflated view of the shape here, but if you're going to turn that black border white then perhaps you should change the colour of the inner circle - maybe to black? Good brickwork and texture here. I like the shading in the second entry - but if that's a reflection of the skull in the silver cup, why is it upside down? Mirrored surfaces don't do that! The medieval theme continues in the third entry, and I like the feel of this except for the marble texture, which looks too artificial to me. Beware of texture overload! Nice lighting in the fourth entry, and a great glow in the fifth - you have enjoyed this week, haven't you.

Clever work from Ant Snell, with the logo being cast in silver. The thing I'm not sure about here is the edges of the silver in the logo, which look smudged up the side. Is this right? Would it look like this? I'd have thought it would form a smoother, slightly rippled edge, but without these jagged spikes. And perhaps a reflection in it? Cool bling in the second entry - but aren't you missing the opportunity to add some gold to the silver?

A nice animation from Eva Roth - but I think a whole evening of that might prove a little distracting to the audience!

Splendid work from salfordnurse, turning the logo into an embroidered badge - beautiful. I like the way you've rendered the segments and inner circle as concentric rings, which is particularly convincing. A agree about the stitching to the jacket: too haphazard, perhaps? Ah, that's better!

Shiny stuff from Jimbean, who has turned the logo into a sort of Olympic ashtray. Well, it's certainly an improvement on the London2012 logo! But I do think all that shine could do with a reflection.

The logo makes a good 007-like device in Lorenzo1977's entry - although it's a little too yellow to be gold. Add some more red to it. And to look really shiny, it needs a reflection - this will make all the difference. Who is the man? I don't think I recognise him.

A tasteful T-shirt from munchonu. But why "Face your fears"? What is there to be afraid of? Nice front graphic, but the text has way too much leading.

A nicely-engraved pint of Guinness from Ben Mills - and yes, you really can do that with Guinness. I wonder how it would look if you actually did it, though?

Clever stuff from Josephine Harvatt, with the logo showing up in Da Vinci's Vetruvian Man (although it does make him appear a little - ahem - over-excited), the matchsticks in the wine glass stain and - best of all, for me - the time on the watch face, which is just brilliant. Nice.

A very serene entry from Mariner, with good vector cigarettes - I like the way you've managed different shading on each one, rather than simply copying them. A reflection of the cigarettes in the shiny silver surface would add a lot here, I think; and change that background colour to anything but green!

Very taken with Luis's entry, especially since it was all achieved with Layer Styles. That's a very impressive feat! Are you able to share the psd with us, so we can see how you achieved that shine effect?

A stained glass window from bayer2012, and it's a good effect - I like the reflections in the glass, which give it a sense of surface texture. All that black is a little too graphic, though; does it need some stonework built in there? A clever second entry, with a neatly spherized logo. If it's going to look like it's inside the head, though, it does need a little more shading beneath the zip.

An ingenious entry from Nick Curtain, masquerading as a BBC news page. A terrific glassy effect on the inner white circle, and a truly novel approach to making traffic lights. They should do it! Makes sense for colour blind people, too!

Detailed and striking work from brewell, with the sole blue dress in a sea of red, yellow and gold. It must have taken ages to colour all those pedestrians! Subtle working of the logo into the Sanyo sign, too... very nicely achieved.

A glorious entry from tooquilos, with a beautifully textured artefact, artfully lit, with a tremendous underwater feel. All the Photoshop icons appearing within the shape are a real bonus - very clever! And the diver (complete with bubbles, I note) adds a great sense of scale. I like the way the textures swirl about in the animated version, and that's a great lightning strike at the end!

A subtle entry from Deborah Morley - and yes, it does make a good laptop logo. Not sure about the soft focus, though, especially the dark shadow around the top of the case...

A fine space scene from Tom, with a nicely-fashioned flying saucer. A difficult device to add zoom lines to, especially since the body is black: and wouldn't that rather fancy red dot in the middle be casting a bright streak as well?

Nice texture on Jota120's entry, although I'm having some difficulty working out how those shadows are being cast. What is it, Trevor? The Photoshop file is called Thing_2, which doesn't give us much of a clue!

The only one to spot the rasta colours was joeysala, and her entry fits that perfectly - with a really strong, glassy version of the logo. I like the custom cocktail!

An interesting ring from Garfield72, with the logo made of textured stones. Should they be brighter and shinier, though? I think a ring like that would catch the light more.

I like the way Sophie's logo is lit by coloured bulbs - a very different approach. If you add an out-of-focus reflection to that gold surface, though, it will make it look very much shinier.

I'm not sure how Artwel's Jazzmaster 5000 works, but it's certainly an impressive piece of kit! I've always liked this style, and this is a very complete and convincing machine. Plenty of great animation in the animated version - I especially like the way you've created the rotating holographic logo, and have absolutely no idea how you achieved this.

A good week!

Supposed to be a gift for those who don't get jazz. Obviously doesn't work.

Its based on Enceladus Backlit by Saturn. http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap120208.html .The image started to remind me of an eye, but more....., enough said... maybe also thinking Arthur C Clarke's Rendezvous with Rama (symmetry of three) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_C._Clarke#Rendezvous_with_Rama
