Had to have another go. My first wasn't too good. Here's a redhead for a change.

James I think she's called Brenda by Private Eye satirical magazine.

Wow - I found it really hard to mess with your QUEEN!!! So I kept it very simple. Some excellent entries!

Available now in all good bookstores, (and a few of the rubbish ones).

Well done guys! Just one comment: Artwell I'm very amused
Sorry could not have a go this week. She is same age as my mother. She compares. "Much fitter walking than me". Bless her.

Re: Challenge 405: 60 wrinkling years
"I like the Queen but I also like Kate" says Ant Snell diplomatically, presenting us with a compound of the two. I like the way the hair falls on the shoulders, but is she going prematurely grey beneath the crown? Easy enough to darken the original hair there, I've have thought. I like the slow animated morph back and forth: but is there any way the hair could have grown down, rather than fading into view? A very entertaining second entry - I like the treatment of the flag, and especially the hair. But would it have been stronger without the safety pin?

A hot granny from Jimbean, with the Queen as we've never seen her before - interesting approach! Smudging the hair down over the forehead would help to blend the face in. I like the lipstick, but is that red lightning bolt convincing? Try changing the layer mode to Multiply so we can see the skin texture through it.

An extraordinary entry from Nick Curtain, who has given HM a complete makeover - it's still recognisably her, but only just. Fascinating, really, to see how she could appear... a very well-wrought entry, Nick!

A cleverly worked-up Facebook page from tooquilos, with a fine selection of Friends, Likes, Photos and personal info. Ingeniously devised, immaculately executed, right down to the detail of compressing the wrong-proportion mugshot to a square. I like the additional chat revealed as we scroll down in the animated version - especially Phillip's censored comments! Great work.

A splendid hat from Deborah Morley - so much better than that clumsy old crown, yet still curiously regal. And I have to say, the new hair does rather suit her, especially as it has been so carefully woven into her own. Lovely.

A spiky trim from Deb Raskin, making the Queen look much fresher and more in tune - a good look! The canvas treatment works well, but that frame is a very acid yellow... try warming it up a little so it matches the gold in the picture itself.

A very entertaining image from Garfield72, with tinted hair and several facial piercings (and I like the new eyelashes). Most of the work here has gone into the facelift, though, and it's a great example of what can be achieved through wrinkle removal. I like the makeover in the second entry - cool shades! Hard to wear a crown with that top knot, though.

Fine work from Vibeke, as the Queen is given a fashionably short haircut and a more casual shirt (and, indeed, a cunningly attached new pair of ears). It all makes her look much less stuffy, and more approachable - a charming entry. Ditching that clumsy crown was a good idea.

An extraordinary makeover from Linda Eckert, whose Queen looks like a pantomime dame, complete with garishly tinted hair and scarily theatrical eye shadow. I like the necklace and decorations made of Ferrero Rocher chocolate! Nice idea!

A youthful Queen from Sophie - is that Kate's hair she's wearing? It's a good effect, but it seems rather too big for her face. When hair falls like that, you can afford for it to be lying much more over the forehead and cheeks. I greatly prefer the redhead look in the second entry - nicely worked over the face. A good casual look, which rather suits her.

An entertaining image from Mariner, with HM in a rather more vindictive mood. I like the bloody axe, but her expression is still a little bland: a good opportunity for Liquify to make her frown, I'd have thought. And a lot more shading needed in that robe to make it look real!

A California tan from Josephine Harvatt, whose Queen has an enhanced smile, sparked-up eyeshadow and, seemingly, copious quantities of Botox pumped into those features. Having seen this, I think I'm glad she remains somewhat conservative in her appearance!

Frank's Queen has a distinctly hardened, lived-in look - there's an edginess here that's most appealing. I like the cig and the sparkly glasses, but I'm going to have to take you to task on the surface of your beer - it needs to be horizontal! I've lost track of the number of hours I've spent doing this in dozens of montages, but it does make a big difference.

A severe facelift from Ben Boardman, with the Queen's skin tugged so hard it makes her look positively emaciated. A good appreciation of bone structure, though. But what's happening to her earrings? Do they need straightening out again?

An extraordinary Avatar makeover from Lorenzo1977, with sparkly skin and tattoos - very painstakingly cut around that necklace. The braided hair extensions work well, although it's a little hard-edged at the top, and the recoloured eyes are a good detail. Nice.

Very subtle animation from James, with the merest twitch of one of the corgi's ears as a wasp flies through the background and lands on it - very restrained, James! But am I right in thinking you've gone to the trouble of making the wasp's wings flap? A touch softer on the Queen's hair, and it's perfect. Just checked out the second entry - what's happened to her hair in that one???

Clever work from Ben Mills, who has morphed a youthful Liz into her older self. The problem is what to do about that chin: she was clearly looking down more in the original. I think it needs a little extension to stop it disappearing into her neck - or perhaps it could be achieved with a touch of shadow?

Major facial work from joeysala, with every wrinkle painted away - but does she now look too plastic? It's hard to know when to stop with this sort of job; I'd be tempted to lower the opacity on those smoothing layers so we can see a little more of the original texture.

Hand-made hair from Arijel - some good smudging techniques here, but you now need to switch to a much smaller brush size to get the detail in. Drawing hair from scratch is immensely difficult, and takes an awful lot of skill and patience!

It looks like brumtaffy's Queen has been attacked by a plastic surgeon - I'm all for smoothing out sagging chins, but you do have to leave some jawbone in there for support! Too easy to get carried away with this kind of job, I think. A dress made from bubble wrap - now there's an interesting idea!

A novel approach from Artwel, whose Queen has been incarcerated (by republicans, we assume). A very nicely-made image, with good sparkle on the bling. Couple of technical points: the light on the bald pate is from the side, whereas on the face the sides are in shadow; and you need to offset the shadows of the bars (or perhaps lose them altogether) on the background, since it's so much further away than the body.

Very entertaining work this week!

Thank you Steve. Yes the wasp wings do flap, but not as obvious as I would have liked. The second entry, ERM! perhaps not.
