Emil,
I love your image, it took me a short time to see Snape. Excellent.

Thank you Deborah for your comment,

I think I should have let some blue reflections of light under the table.

All the best
Emil

To Linda:
Auw, that "Je vous embrasse'', that's too much! (but I'd love it, haha).
Maybe you should visit the website ones more, because I added 4 JPG's to the first supply (these 4 are the best of all). I used them in my fryday challenge and could'nt find them back at first. You must set the blending mode to Screen.

Thank you Sciteach - is your "Snape" making a potion to cure Saturday Night Fever ?

I think to help resurrect it, perhaps!

Re: Challenge 414: Potions class
Missed this weeks challenge so here's a late entry by "Magic", (Hogwarts favourite Wizard-Rock Trio) performing classic tracks such as 'Hermoine a Muggle But I Like It' , 'You Cannot Be Sirius'
and 'That Never Happened in the Book!'..

Great work Artwell.
Good timing for late entry while Steve is still away. While the cats away, the mice will play ..... I won't lodge an appeal for late entry

Re: Challenge 414: Potions class
Ha yes thankyou Trevor.. I have just moved house over the weekend, I know that's no excuse for a lapse in FC participation , so I enlisted a team of hungry mice to work overtime on the promise that I would fly them all to the moon (all cheese and no meow).

Re: Challenge 414: Potions class
Lots of great entries to greet me on my return - glad to see you haven't all been just lounging around in the sunshine.

First to enter the lab was Josephine Harvatt, with a decidedly queasy-looking cross between Harry Potter and Snape - very subtle! I like the flaming orange and the bubbles shooting out of the green pot, and that stand under Snape has been very neatly removed.

Not sure why John Travolta has crept into sciteach's entry, but he certainly matches the mirror ball and the afro rabbit. I like the general livening-up here: replacing the entire floor seems like a lot of effort, though.

A nightmare collection of fantasy elements from Sjef, with a packed and busy scene - what a lot of stuff! I'm not sure even a decapitated man could hold a sword like that, though. The object floating above the girl's head feels very artificial compared to everything else in view: is it just the over-bright colours?

Plenty of potion action from Nick Curtain, with sparking and trailing cauldrons - I particularly like the one that's gushing smoke. Good Snape head, and good floor stand removal.

A rather different kind of witch from Ben Mills, who seems to have brought her own floor with her. Hope she's going to do some sweeping up seeing as she's brought her broomstick. I like the voodoo doll Snape!

Terrific work from Frank, with a great sense of interaction between the characters. I like the new lighting, too, and the two potions books fit perfectly; the reworked hands on Snape fit perfectly. Amazingly good work, Frank - you should be really proud of this one.

Lots of colourful potions boiling over from Garfield72. I like the snake on the floor, and Snape's expression - but the lighting on his face seems a little out of keeping with the scene. And has the white smoke layer been accidentally duplicated? A fine new stained glass window!

I like the sentiment in Linda Eckert's entry, where the boy has turned Snape into an elephant - and that rabbit slouches very neatly on the stool. You do need to watch those artificial clothing colours, though, as they stop the figure from appearing truly part of the scene. And, er, shouldn't the boy have a body below the waist?

I've been trying to work out the "potion" that Snape has conjured up for Dumbledore in Brewell's entry - is it viagra, by any chance? I like the pose of Dumbledore, and the lighting on his face and beard. Snape's expression seems a little detached, though, and his body now interferes with the stool, don't you think? The second entry is a very much better composition, even if Dumbledore does seem to have lost a finger in the process.

I'm impressed by the way tooquilos has cleared the table - that must have been hard work! Clever how all the cauldrons now appear to be on stands behind it. That's a decidedly cool-looking Snape, too, although Hagrid appears to have shrunk somewhat. Great Tinkerbell action in the animated version - and I like the Hair soundtrack.

A vanished Snape from James - just a ghostly shadow left on the floor - but a remarkably neatly inserted door for him to have left through. Great to see it static, and then all come to life in the animated version - I particularly like the way Snape deals with the naughty eyeballs!

A fine explosion from Deborah Morley - but not enough to ruffle the cool Snape, it would appear. I like the way you've changed the colour of the room as if it's lit by the flames; but would it be stronger if the room were only partially lit in this way?

A colourful scene from Mariner, with a terrific new body and expression on Snape. I like the Potter and Hermione figures in the glass jars, and that snake zigzagging out of the cauldron moves just like the old Snake phone game - clever! very nicely achieved.

Wizards from all over the place populate joeysala's entry - but look how well they all fit together! Excellent choice of bodies and poses, and expertly positioned in the scene. The only thing that looks artificial is the gold ring: desaturate both it and the glow to make it blend into the scene better. I do like the way they're all looking at it, though, great dynamics!

Plenty going on in jpore's entry, with snakes, spider webs and a nearly placed and illuminated wand. The skull on the table is good, and I like the way the smoke cascades off the edge. A good set of candles on the stool, but all those flames need to be lighting up the scene around them!

A rather heavy metal approach from Jota120, with a somewhat irreverent expression from Snape and an oversized album on the stool. I like the Klein bottle on the table - nice touch! But you do need to refract the view seen through it. I like the exuberance of the figure in the second entry - good smoke.

A stylised scene from Phill, with the three main characters behind the table (and good work remembering their legs!) with, slightly bizarrely, Data from Star Trek standing in for Snape. Perhaps lose the stroke on the pink cauldron layer, and replace it with an Outer Glow? Good to see you back, Phill, and sorry for your loss.

A moody scene from Emil, with flames licking the bases of the cauldrons and thin wisps of smoke coming out. I like the intense look in Snape's face, but with so much light coming from the window, shouldn't he be more illuminated than that?

I like the caricatures in Artwel's entry - great use of the Harry Potter lettering, a really funny entry altogether. So much so that I won't complain about the perspective issue with the table in the background... oh, damn, it slipped out.

Excellent work this week! And many thanks, Nick, for the inspirational starting image.

Thank you Steve! Welcome back and hope you had a good time

I thought about Hagrid's size after I posted..but yes, he does look rather small. Oh well

The table clearing took me all of 2 minutes..it was just a matter of placing a new layer over the top!!

There's a clue in the title: "Dumbledore's Lipitor." It kind of trips off the tongue. It's a cholesterol medicine - too many sausages for breakfast.

Thanks Steve, I did actually light up only part of the room with the 'glow', obviously a bit too subtle.
