Re: Challenge 480: Build me a biker
First to jump on the bike this week was ahmedalij, with an excellent cutout and a fine biker girl leaning against it. I like the way the bike still glints in the evening sun - very nicely achieved. My only issue is one of scale: that's a very narrow road! Move the white line a little to the right for a more comfortable proportion. I like the angle in the second entry, with added wheel spin - a very clean arrangement. A great fit from James, with the bike neatly straddled. Not sure about the clothing, with no helmet and bare legs against all that hot metal; but I like the way both hands are folded over that one handle. A glorious animated version, with a particularly fine cutout on the bike - I like how the rider changes position before he sets off. But what really gets me is the detail in the background: not just the immaculately rebuilt road surface, but the two women in the distance who finish their conversation and then walk their separate ways. Magnificent, James! A clever solution from bjansen, who has turned the machine into a dirt bike, complete with flying rider clinging on. I like the recolouring, that yellow really gives it authenticity; a great choice of position and angle. My only real issue here is with the shadow: with all those lights there would be multiple shadows, if any, and it's most unlikely there would be a light directly overhead. A somewhat horrific mankini from joeysala, whose biker is wearing clothing definitely not approved for this sort of machine. A great fit on the helmet and gloves: did you happen to find a biker wearing this costume? Ouch. Sorry, going to have to scroll past this one, it hurts my eyes. Ah, that's better: a fully-dressed Arnie in the second entry. Glad you didn't pick him from a few minutes earlier in the film, when he was naked. Well, Linda Eckert's rider is certainly on the bike, in a manner of speaking. excellent positioning of the one hand on the handlebar, and the other on the seat; but is he just too big for the bike? Also, I'd tone down his saturation a little to match the more muted colours of the background. I like the plate of coins, a nice touch. It looks like Ben Mills is off his medication again... well, she's certainly on that bike, Ben, although I'm not sure she's really dressed for the part (in fact, I'm not sure she's really dressed). Is she just too highly saturated, perhaps? And just a bit too large? A terrific choice of biker from Vibeke, wearing absolutely appropriate clothing and with facial tattoos that match the exuberance of the bike. What's he holding with his left hand? I think Puppet Warp could have made this reach the handlebar. A very fine pairing of Elvis and Marilyn from iwa, against an appropriate Las Vegas background. A good fit, although they could have gone a bit larger so Elvis's hand reached the handlebar (and so he wasn't sitting so painfully on the fuel tank). Minor point: I can see the original white line of the road through the spokes on the front wheel, which glare somewhat. Magic Eraser to delete these so we can see the road through them, please. A truly extraordinary biker from tooquilos, wearing a variety of tribal accoutrements and set against a decidedly homemade shack background. Very atmospheric, and a great cutout on the bike. The rider does seem a little too large, though, at least his top half; he dwarfs the bike rather. But so interesting to see the source material used in this image - it really highlights how much work has gone into creating this montage. A really clever animated version, too, with so much detail - the chomping of the ramp by the crocodile, its repulsion by the rider, the voodoo pin sticking and the head ending up as a trophy - fantastic. An excellent choice of background from Frank, with a splendidly decayed scene and a biker entirely at home in the scene. A good angle on the ground shadows, pointing away from the sun; but shouldn't the bike and rider be in shadow, with the sun behind them? In general, though, I'd recommend not using work from DeviantArt, as they can get justifiably touchy about reproduction without permission. A powerful image from Mariner, with a boy being leant upon by three scary-looking bikers. Maybe he shouldn't have sat on their bike... but it's a fine-looking montage, with a real sense of menace to it. A really funny entry from Emy, with the cop perfectly inserted behind the bike - and his car parked in exactly the right position on the street. Very nicely done, Emy! And a great caption! Garfield72 has moved the bike to India, and given it a well-dressed rider in appropriately retro gear - I like those goggles. But given the overcrowding we see on most Indian transport, surely there's room for half a dozen passengers on here? I like the love story in the second entry though - a very moving scene, and a good use of lack of focus in the distance. I was hugely amused by Deborah Morley's Motorbike Riding For Dummies entry - a classic piece of work! The hand is a little tricky, though, and seems unnaturally bent back at the wrist. So hard finding hands from the right angle! I half expected Jota120 to make a guest appearance this week, but it appears he's unusually camera shy. A great setting for the bike, Trevor, but why is it so small? Compare the back wheel with the wheel of the bike directly behind it, and it seems tiny. I'm always impressed by how michael sinclair manages to create a sense of rolling movement from just two frames. With the bike heading forward like that, though, you really need to straighten out the handlebars and front wheel first; and, yes, make that wheel spin - but take out the white gaps between the spokes first. A beautifully composed bank heist from Vahn, with the bike set against an entirely appropriate steampunk background - and with two matching riders. A very fine scene, with an excellent match in terms of colour and definition. But watch out when you flip buildings horizontally: that Gold Panning store needs to have its sign flipped back the other way. Glad you finally managed to get your entry in - why so much trouble posting? Terrific work this week. A real pleasure to go through them all. |

Steve said ".....did you happen to find a biker wearing this costume?" Yes I did, helmet, gloves and ridiculous outfit - AND, he was straddling a motorcycle! _________________ "Imagination, not invention, is the supreme master of art........" Joseph Conrad |

Re: Challenge 480: Build me a biker
Thanks Steve, there seemed to be some kind of lever where his left hand is, and I did use puppet warp to reach it. _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |

Thanks as ever Steve. I tried holding a book like that and as it was heavy it pushed my wrist back. How would you have shown it? |

Thanks Steve. While I was researching Hell's Angels I couldn't help but notice that all their bikes are highly polished. Was he sitting on his own machine? |

Re: Challenge 480: Build me a biker
Thanks again Steve. I'm not sure about the back wheel, but get your point. This is not an excuse I hope, but its a very low rider as has no suspension on the rear, like a bicycle. Your on the wheel almost. Its a Rat Bike! Modern bikes have very big radial tyres. |

Re: Challenge 480: Build me a biker
I've erased the background from bike and enlarged Elvis and Merlin, but the hand was problem , because it wasn't Elvis hand , if I would stretched to reach the handle ,it would be to long ( I thing for Elvis ?) Thanks for review ![]() ![]() |

Re: Challenge 480: Build me a biker
Thanx a Mill Steve , I consider it a privilege to be critiqued by you . I was actually hoping anyone would not "notice" the "back-flip" but , who am I fooling right ? ... Actually , that WAS the original backdrop intended for the challenge , converting it to a steampunk-ed tattoo parlor . As for the issue(s) with loading images ... it is still a mystery to me Once again , thank you much vahn |
