An odd halo on the young Jesus

Apparently, halos are adjusted by rank. Joseph was given a mere single circlet, while Jesus was given the full admiral treatment.

Great shadows from srawland, with the scene now definitely lit by that lamp. The scene seems rather foggy around the light, though; best not to just paint yellow over the lit area - and the light itself could be brighter. I don't think I've ever been depicted quite as musclebound as that - it's rather impressive. I'm sorry to see you felt the need to delete the later entries, though, as I thought they were progressing really well. Seriously, I wasn't offended! Always amused to see how I'm treated, and I assure you it's been a lot stronger than that in the past. I do like the remaining entry, though, featuring one of my sculptures and a rather neatly stained T-shirt. But... who's going to get inspiration from Red Bull? Every great artist needs Absinthe! Oh, and of course you're welcome to use the image on your blog. I didn't know you had one, and it's not listed in your profile - what's the address?

Thank you, Steve, for your critique.

For the light, it looked fine as a .psd it only got that foggy look when I converted it to a .jpg. I did erase some of the fog in the later "Pauncy" version.

The body I attached your head to comes from Tommy Mac who hosts a woodworking show called "Rough Cut". I figured if it were me, I'd want my head placed on a young, shapely body and not on a lumpy, saggy one like what I am currently inhabiting.

I'm glad you weren't offended, but Alcoholism is a disease that not only shatters the life of the person afflicted, it also wreaks havoc on the family and friends of the alcoholic. I wasn't just concerned with your feelings.

I have tried Absinthe. A couple of friends took me out for dinner a couple of months after my partner died at a restaurant so high up on a mountain in the Diablo Range that we were looking down on the jets arriving and departing San Jose-Minetta airport. Just before we left one of the couple ordered some Absinthe and gave me a sip. It burned like crazy and then made my mouth numb. Right after he downed it, we jumped in his car and drove careening down the mountainside. I think the car's upholstery still bears the marks of my fingernails.

Thank you for giving permission for me to use the images on my blog. I didn't list it because it's about my progress through your book. Most of the images are either tutorials I have worked on, or Friday Challenge images, so I didn't think anyone here would be interested. But, if you must know it's blog.sarasdesigns.com. I have another entry scheduled to post 8:30 am my time which would be 16:30 your time so you might want to wait until then before viewing it.

Why thank you. While it's primary purpose is to get me some work, I must confess, I bought your book used. I figure if someone reads my blog and decides to purchase any of your books, I will have made it up to you.

Thanks Steve !

I've told him to do something about the lighting in his workshop.

I struggled to find a suitable man with the right lighting.

Hi Nick

I struggled to find a good fit too. But I find that rather than try and find a figure whose lighting fits it is usually far easier to search out very flat images and light them myself. The wheelwright and wheel in my image were outside on a very flat grey day. The lack of any strong inherent lighting makes it far easier to impose my own to conform to the position of the light source.

Just a thought ...........

Thank you Steve. I realised about the trees after I posted. As far as Geppetto goes..he is a man of short stature. He struggles to get on that stool.
