This is really off topic but by one of those odd chances that occur I was looking for a card today to put with a present and found this little piece of fifties memorabilia. Now that would have been my pram of choice. A baby Cadillac! Only thing missing is headlamps!

Well that is amazing! Rivals the mine pram

Thanks Trevor and Michael. I did quite a bit of filming during the summer and have stacks of footage and photos, which I have created videos with. I do enjoy underwater scenes, particularly slow motion.

What a set up! When you say a very thin 1” tank..do you mean 1” of glass thickness?

No ...... Tank was ¼" perspex (plexiglass) About 3' x 2' x 1" placed around 12-18" from the camera lens. So just 1" of water thickness for clarity and visibility.

I was going to have a goldfish swimming around in the tank, but found that I couldn't get him to turn in the time I had to work with.

Not one of my finer videos.

Apologies, will try to do the next Challenge. My brain is not working on all 4 cylinders; either that or I need an oil change!

A striking image from DavidMac - these above/below water shots are really tricky to pull off, but you've managed it remarkably well. Given that's clearly a real ship at sea, the trouble must have been finding the below water section to match to it. Great ripples over the mine, too. Very good work.

A terrific animation from michael sinclair - there's real drama here, with a very fine explosion. Should the ship be that low in the water, though? I enjoyed the second entry, too, with the leaping dolphins; can I suggest that the point at which to restart the sky cycling should be when the ship takes up three quarters of the frame?

A beautiful image from Vibeke, with the mine tethered to the sea floor and surrounded by fish. I like the looming hull of the boat - lucky escape.

Charming work from Emy, whose mine is lying corroded on the sea shore - great use of rust and decay, and very neatly inserted. With the sun in that position, though, wouldn't the mine be mainly in shadow?

A clever image from Gerard, who has recognised the similarity of the mine's shape with that of Japanese bells. Very nicely inserted - cutting out that chain must have been tricky! Wouldn't want to be around when this one chimes, though. (DavidMac: the difference between the first and second images is removal of a white hold at the part of the chain where it meets the top of the mine.)

A splendid image from Ben Mills, with the mine being passed by a rather glorious fish (and, indeed, the nearest thing you could get to an underwater girl in a bikini). A pretty mine of your own choosing, but I'd question (a) whether it shouldn't be rather more green, given its location, and (b) whether it should still reflect the house opposite.

There's a surreal, painterly quality to Mariner's entry, with the two children playing on the mine: very striking, and above all with superb shadows (these must have taken some time to work out). This has the feel of a 1970s album cover. The only thing I'd change would be the colour of the boy's shirt, which glares rather; more muted, please!

Fantastic work from Linda Eckert, with a load of colourful mines turned into beach toys... I really like the way you've done this, the reflections are excellent. What a good idea.

A masterful image from tooquilos, with a beautiful underwater setting - I love the way you capture the sense of light. Terrific work in the animated version: the way the view through the periscope starts out of focus, the splashes over the lens, the extraordinary above/under water shot with waves lapping at the rocks, the teeming fish, the shadow of the submarine rolling over the rocks... just amazing. I could watch it over and over. And indeed, I have.

GKB is harking back to Friday Challenge no 1, with the boiled egg - and our mine fits rather well in that eggcup. Good to see you managed to get the lion on the side! If you were presented with a miniature mine in an eggcup, though, would you strike it with a spoon?

"Not one of my finer videos," says srawland, but there's a real charm to this. The mine is perfectly positioned, with a good reflection; and am I right in assuming you built that tree with attendant seahorse? A serene and wholly convincing entry. And anything that uses a soundtrack by Saint-Saens is good by me.

To be honest I just looked at a few dry dock pictures to get an idea what to expect and then just 'painted' it. Black and white always makes that easier. Thank you for your kind comments.

Re: Challenge 661: It's all mine
Thank you, Steve, about the mine, but the seahorse and the trees are from Pixelsquid. When I couldn't get the goldfish to turn I thought that I could put seahorses because they don't tend to move much. However, they do need something to grasp...
