Re: Challenge 662: Back seat driver
Lots of great entries.
Not here, only eventually back and able to have a go. Seems to have deviated, or was it in the vein of previous Car Seat FC we had previously.

Re: Challenge 662: Back seat driver
I apologise for my extremely poor attempt at this Challenge. I wasn't going to post it but as I didn't do last weeks Challenge either I shall just go ahead. A lot more I should have done but no time...

I would be interested to hear what you thought of the title..which I made, from scratch, in another 3D application.

Had I not known it was 3D I would never have guessed. Impeccable.

Re: Challenge 662: Back seat driver
Variant: John didn't look too comfortable in the backseat, too busy serving the drinks (=error ), so plusher seat, and then some other backseat drivers beamed in to join us.

Re: Challenge 662: Back seat driver
There was so much more detail I would have liked to put into this, including spinning the wheels. However, I've switched to full-time days and I've been quite tired this week. Next week and for a few weeks after it's going to be even worse as I start working 6 days a week for 4-8 weeks possibly more. I don't think I'll have time for animations and I may not have time even for stills.

I was looking for a scream that was less horror and more amusement park ride.

Re: Challenge 662: Back seat driver
It looks like this week's Challenge caused some consternation, neatly summed up by DavidMac's vision of the crumpled car being towed away (and very nicely done it is, too). And I enjoyed the second entry, following Mariner's prompt, which includes a couple of arms and legs sticking out. Very droll, Mr MacDonald.

A somewhat political entry from Ben Mills, with a sinister Mr Whippy in the foreground - wouldn't be making any ethical assumptions here, would you, Ben?

Splendid work from GKB, with Gordon himself posed in a beautifully resprayed version of the car - I always did favour British Racing Green. And the substitution of the rear seat with a picnic basket is a reasonable compromise. Who did you get to take the photo of you? The angle is perfect.

A good pose from Gerard, with the driver surrendering to a Stop sign - I like the Under Construction sign, although you could perhaps do without that text outline (it does make it hard to read). Cute dog; but don't they always look forward in cars, into the wind?

A fine chateau location from Linda Eckert, who has posed her own husband in the driver's seat - I like the way he's waving back over his shoulder. And another dog: yours, I presume? A good way to fill that tricky back seat.

A great Wind in the WIllows entry from Josephine Harvatt, with Ratty clearly pleased to be out of Toad's car. Beatrix Potter? You mean that isn't Ratty? Poop poop, indeed!

I knew tooquilos wouldn't be able to resist rising to the Fuse approach - say what you like about the somewhat plastic nature of the models, it does give you the ability to pose people from any angle and in any position. Some ingenious reverse angles in the animated version - great to see those characters brought to life. And did you create the Roadster lettering intro? Just one anomaly: the driver changes between the rear and side views (or maybe the side view is a left hand drive car).

I never thought I'd say it, but the most bang-on-topic entry this week comes from michael sinclair with a stonking view - a beautifully reconstructed car, with Donald Trump both in the rear seat with Mrs T and, it seems, driving. Tremendous animation in a few frames - the spinning wheels, and especially the reflections hurtling past, give it a real sense of movement. The only thing that I'd change (apart from maybe putting Putin in the driver's seat) would be to remove the seagull: because it doesn't jiggle up and down at all, it makes the whole scene look static. Great wing movement, though. Excellent work, Michael.

Great use of the overhead view from Frank, with a family beach trip gone wrong: very nicely achieved, I like the way you tell the story - the kids in the back with their beach toys, the mother checking the map, the subtle closure sign. And I like the extra touch of the yellow line reflected in the hubcap.

An ingenious entry from Jota120, with the car neatly inserted into a drinking scene. Some slightly curious goings-on with the rear windscreen and the drinks table - perhaps the drinks should have been entirely inside the car? And shouldn't the man in the back seat have a back, rather than being crammed in front of the seat bases? Ah - better in he second entry! Sorry to see the whole Star Trek crew have to cram onto one seat, especially when there are so many free chairs available.

I enjoyed Deborah Morley's entry, marrying last week's mine with this week's car - nicely positioned, and a great choice of background that allows the reflected grass on the side of the car to work. Good angle on the driver, too.

A charming toy entry from Mariner, with some great touches: the teddy bear sticking its arm through the steering wheel; the surface reflected in the side; the high polish on the car... but for me the best thing is the background, which screams "toys" but I have no idea why. Very fine work, Michael.

Fuse characters from srawland, in a rather beautifully resprayed car. I like the minimalist road surface, although it could have done with a shadow under the car, perhaps. Great movement from the back seat driver in the animated version; although if I was the driver I wouldn't even have lasted the 20 seconds of this animation. Not sure about the nature of the scream! You need more of a Wheee! and less of an Aaaargh.

Well done to all who attempted his tricky Challenge!

Interesting that the week I have chosen to be churlish has brought out the best in everybody else. Remarkable efforts with a very tricky subject.

Re: Challenge 662: Back seat driver
Thank you Steve
I’ve been working on a project with an AE plug in called 3D Element. I wanted to try out the text aspect of it, so I made the title from scratch. I added a reflection map for extra realism.
Only you could spot that anomaly!! It didn't even occur to me

Have fun in Poland !

Re: Challenge 662: Back seat driver
Thanks Steve.
Agree could have been reposited drinks. They were inside originally, but thought needed to make them more readily available.
Maybe Star Trek crew just Beamed-down en mass

Thanks Steve. I photographed myself with the camera on a tripod using a radio remote release. The positioning was done using the seat that I sat on to gauge the correct angle and distance. The lens focal length was guesstimated on the basis that you were using a phone camera or similar wide angle lens. I took a variety of shots and just moved my left arm around so that I had a choice of position on the steering wheel.

Re: Challenge 662: Back seat driver
Thank you, Steve, there were lots of little details that ended up getting left out. I wish I had an entire day to work on this one, including having more time to find a more suitable scream sound clip.
