Yes. Maybe it was just maintenance.

Michael, the rose just finishes it off!

Thank you Sara :)The dancing dots are fabulous. You have synced the music up to the actions extremely well. Ive been trying to work out what you used to animate the dots. Was it with PS or Flash?

I think it depends on him..will he pinch her inner thigh? If he does, then yes, she probably will stab him

Here's a 60 framer: I had to cut out 16 separate Morris dancer groups and provide the corresponding shadows. The first image shows one of the screenshots from the YouTube video that featured dancing exhibitions in Trafalgar Square.

NB: Photobucket allowed me to upload 19.5 mb, so be aware of the size

Oh yes, if you want more detail (larger image), then just click on the animated Gif file image

Michael - I think this is your best one yet! The dancing is superb!

Re: Challenge 663: Morris dancing
I'm typing up this week's comments on an iPad on my lap, so forgive me for brevity and a chance of autocorrect errors.

A colourful entry from Gerard, with a somewhat sunburnt companion sporting curiously green shoulders. I like the fairground setting, though. Has our squeezebox player shrunk, though?

A nicely bedecked car from DavidMac, with plenty of traditional Morris dancers plying their trade in the background. Morris! I get it!

Remarkably neat work from Ben Mills, rescuing a dancer from the background and bringing her onto the stage - a very clever idea, nicely achieved.

Perfect matching from josephine Harvatt - love the way they're linking arms. Suspect he might be in for a surprise when he gets her home.

As you may know, you can dress Fuse characters any way you like... and tooquilos has really got stuck in here. I've never seen a zombie Rasta Morris dancer before. Love the animated version - especially the parallax zoom in to the stone circle.

Very fine work from Linda Eckert, placing him on stage: notice how the arm has been neatly raised to match the other performers, and the reflection of his shoes in the floor. Good stuff.

A fine selection of performers from Frank, with our man fitting perfectly into the scene - and he's clearly rather taken with the sax player. Nice.

A magnificent flamenco Morris dancer from Mariner, with perfectly matched clothes - fantastic. The guitar player could do with livening up; perhaps just change the hue of his clothes?

Lovely work from Deborah Morley, and the answer of course she doesn't stab him: she's playing his squeezebox with her elbow in gratitude for him giving her leg a rest.

Our dancer joins a carnival, courtesy of srawland, blending in nicely despite the rain (this looks like London to me). A remarkable and glorious animated version, and I have to admit I have absolutely no idea how you did this.

A spot of country house Morris work from michael sinclair, and very fine work it is too. I'm not even going to mention perspective of the dancers doesn't match the background. As ever, though, I do have a problem with your jerking repeat backgrounds. I think the strength of those balloons only accentuates it.

Given the feeble mindeness of the joke I am not sure that's something to go public about ...........

Re: Challenge 663: Morris dancing
Thank you, Steve. As animations go it was fairly straightforward. I found a tutorial online for this. It turns out Photoshop animates the distortion filters for you. You start with your basic shape - in this case four circles - and set your path for them. It's important that you set the path BEFORE you apply the filter. Once you get the path set then apply the filter. I used Zigzag pond ripples. Photoshop uses the center of the image as the center of the effect so as the shapes move more towards the center, they distort accordingly.

Steve, as always you're spot on concerning perspective, but I don't quite see what you mean; therefore, can you elucidate please?

Of course. The dancers' heads are all at the same level, which suggests that's where your eyeline is. But the vanishing lines in your building are pointing to a horizon far below that.

The only two ways you could make that background work would be either to move your dancers down so we only see the top half of their bodies, or perhaps, better, make them very much smaller - then the would be the correct size for the background.

The three bystanders at the back give the correct eyeline for this background.

Re: Challenge 663: Morris dancing
Something has been bothering me about this challenge. Doesn't Steve play the accordion? It's gone now, but I believe there was an early Friday Challenge featuring an image of Steve playing the accordion. Is it possible that Steve dabbles in Morris Dancing, or at least accompanies Morris dancers? I should have thought of this earlier.
