Square thought bubble, though? Hmm.

I keep thinking about this one. It's an interesting question. Is there a convention? Should they be elliptical?

I thought the only difference was whether they were linked to the thinker/speaker by a tapered solid pointer or a series of diminishing spheres.

Looking on line shows all sorts of inconsistencies in bubble shape. Shouting and shock are often star or lightning shaped. Mostly all are elliptical and sometimes thought bubbles are cloud shaped. Although the linking arrow of solid or bubbles to indicate speech or thought does seem to be consistent.

Well I thought so ....... until I looked in the old Tintin albums I used to learn French with and they are all rectangular with solid pointers regardless of thought or speech. You are simply left to deduce from context.

Seems confusion rules .........
