Thanks Anna. Sadly, like Loyd, I cannot get the link to work. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Well actually Anna, rather more than OK. As always it's the small things, like the perfectly executed rear view mirror, that impress me the most. Love the dog antics too! _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

I really did not have the time I spent on this. Good thing I wasn't working on an animation. I wouldn't have gotten anything done. ![]() _________________ I'm still learning. |

Re: Challenge 743:Carry on Ely
First to step back in time this week was DavidMac, with a Carry On homage. Curious choice of font - you really shouldn’t use an inline font at such a small size! A splendid second entry, with the car now on the junk Steptoe wagon - very nicely done. And I liked seeing the OFAH cast in the third entry. A rather creepy man in a white suit from lwc, set - judging by the women - a good 20 years before this car was built. I like the station wagon. A fine collection of cars in the second entry, but the angle of the men’s chairs doesn’t match the perspective of the scene. It’s largely down to the position of that back leg: ![]() A fine third entry, and as you say, ‘extra points’ for Shirley Eaton. But you lose points for putting the steering wheel on the left! I did enjoy your rather glorious reply to David’s excellent double-ended car image. A wide range of Carry On characters from Frank, all perfectly integrated into the scene - with plenty of action both indoors and out. Terrific work, Frank! Did you have to google the cast, or did the Carry On films make it to Canada? Great work from Ben Mills - I thought at first it might be a different car, but looking closely I can see you’ve clearly redecorated the original. An immaculate paint job, Ben; just give that woman a shadow and you’re done. A visit to toytown from Ant Snell, the car neatly replaced by a toy version coloured to match the original. I like this a lot - but there’s something about that shadow that jars with me. Too much beneath the car, perhaps? And who is that splendid mechanic? A welcome return from michael sinclair after a long absence, with a road-based two-framer of the kind he's so fond of creating. Nicely done, Michael, but those are remarkably shiny hubcaps for such a dirty car! Good to see you back. A finely constructed scene from tooquilos, with great shadows and thoughtful positioning. A terrific intro to the animated version - and love that driving car! Reminds me of old fashioned back projection… but amazing to see the still scene jumping into life at the end. Where did you find all that video footage of cutout people? A perfectly executed vintage scene from srawland, with nicely balanced composition. I especially like the sign on top of the car, complete with distorted reflection - now that really must have taken some working out! |

Okay, but I'm taking back a few "extra points" for the window sticker. ![]() ![]() |

You are always going to catch me there Steve ... your strong point and my weakest. ........ and my apologies for having perhaps generated far too much distraction from the challenge. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 743:Carry on Ely
Thanks Steve, yes I googled the cast which took some time to find anything usable, also tried Pinterest which had some material. The Carry On Gang did show in Canada and it was one of my favorites. |

Re: Challenge 743:Carry on Ely
Thank you Steve. The reflection didn't take as much working out as you'd think. Since the photo was going to be in Greyscale, it was easy enough for me to just cut-out the reflection from the original car and then fit it to the new one. I thought I might have to make an adjustment but once I added the Black and White adjustment layer over the whole image, it blended perfectly. I did have to transform it just a bit to match the curve of the new car. ![]() _________________ I'm still learning. |
