And very nicely too. I think it really creates contact between the two.

Re: Challenge 746: Epstein's Torso
First to rebuild Epstein’s sculpture was lwc, who tracked down the original sculpture - and the sparks, background and slight motion blur work perfectly. Very impressive. I enjoyed the merger with Louise Bourgeois’ spider in the second entry - that certainly gives him legs. A variety of treatments in the third entry; I like the version with the strong blue tint at the top.

A rather charming entry from DavidMac, with the sculpture cuddling up to a couple of women on a bench. I like the fact that it’s holding a walking stick and wearing a hat. Is it kneeling on a crushed dustbin? Cute. A brave stab at a Tenniel illustration in the second entry - and it very nearly works. I think if the shading were less horizontal, and more patchy, the engraving effect might work better.

A powerful if somewhat top-heavy rebuild from Ben Mills, tooled up to face the dragons behind him. He seems to have pinched Captain America’s shield, as well as a medieval mace. Hope that’s enough.

Frank has also found a version of Epstein’s original, and has complemented it with a set of people on pogo sticks - and yes, it does rather look that way. A good bit of blur, and a very pleasing composition.

A packed workshop from Tom, with the figure doing some serious welding. Very enjoyable sparks, and beautiful lighting on the figure. I like how it’s offset by the green background; and that’s a fine texture on the figure.

I’m having trouble interpreting tooquilos's entry, as the figure seems to be perched on a couple of kitchen mixers… perhaps all will become clear in the animated version. Terrific typography and glowing eyes in the introduction; and I love the way it liberates itself in the gallery. Those wheels make a lot more sense when they’re spinning. That’s one seriously destructive robot! Looks like you had fun with this one. The added lead Zeppelin in the second entry was a good call.

Very interesting to see how well the sculpture blends in with the Star Wars battle droids in Josephine Harvatt’s entry - they’re clearly closely related, both in terms of head and torso. Well spotted - and nicely matched.

I laughed out lout ad Linda Eckert’s entry, with its rebuilt head and comical expression - a very cute robot. Love those eyes, and the new nose.

Terrific work from Mariner, who has taken elements from the original sculpture and rebuilt them into a gun tripod. Excellent new legs and hand, and the horizontally flipped torso is ingenious. Not sure about the distorted gun, though; are you sure it’s necessary?

It’s back to rock drilling for srawland, set in a dusty desert landscape, the figure largely obscured by its own dust. A nicely edited animated version, with a terrific soundtrack. I like the subtle head movements, and the rather cute butterfly. Made me rather sad. I wonder, though, shouldn’t the figure be vibrating as it drills? The added butterfly shadow is good, but a further suggestion: if it started some distance from the butterfly and then got close to coincide with it, you’d get the impression of the butterfly coming in to land.

Delighted to see Deborah Morley back, with a charming entry - looks like the figure has found a companion. What is that splendid new sculpture? I really like the added eyes, and the leaf shadow on the head blends it in perfectly. Welcome back.

When michael sinclair goes off topic, he really goes off topic. An eagle with flapping Concorde wings? And why not. It is rather cute.

______

No entry from him this week, but I greatly enjoyed seeing all Ant Snell’s creations - magical! I particularly like the oil barrel chairs with the saw arms and, er, table saw table. Magnificent. And the wheelbarrow bench is really cute.

Wonderful entries everyone. Thought i'd try recreate the image as a 3D model but got slapped by the realisation that i've still got plenty to learn. Real life pressures didn't help either.

Not to waste all the hard work and trial and error, i decided to post it anyway. This model has not seen the last of me. I really enjoyed the learning curb so thanks Steve.
