Re: Challenge 771: Air apparent
Gordon - I couldn't agree with you more. If only it were that simple. But, I'm surprised you aren't subjecting Mr. Johnson to the same treatment.

Anna - loved your inflatables especially the swan. I love how it is translucent and it looks so realistic on the water.

DavidMac - Your contraption made me laugh out loud.

I didn't have time to do an animation as I am supposed to be studying for an Appraiser I exam. The maths for this position are a little harder than for Office Specialist III. For OSIII I only needed to know basic arithmetic. For the Appraiser I exam I have to know algebra and geometry. Yes, I did study these in High School. But, unlike basic arithmetic, I haven't used these maths much on a daily basis in the past 30 years.

The brief said to show how it operated.

Back to the books.

Don’t worry Sara, as soon as I get the opportunity Boris will get some attention. Unfortunately I won’t be able to do much for the next three weeks as I will be on my hols

Great work everyone. Gordon your work is great, really getting a handle on Hit Film - I'm still struggling along but hopefully in the winter I'll have more time.
Fantastic Mariner and Loyd keep em coming.
Anna, fantastic as per usual
Here's my struggled attempt to get an entry in this week:not entirely happy but no more time:

Because I've had to work on these I know how even though this looks deceptively simple. Its an incredible amount of work. Good job. Oh and I'd check your sounds. There are different Creative Commons licenses. If it says Creative Commons 0, you can use that sound without attributing it. Most of the sound clips however, require you to at least mention the name of the artist. Some of them want you to provide a link to the license. Since you aren't doing this commercially, and probably not that many people are going to view it, you are probably safe. But, you never know...

Frank considering that you haven't been using Hit Film for very long I think that this is an excellent attempt. And you found the same 3D model of Baby Trump that I used.

Well done.

Re: Challenge 771: Air apparent
First to pump air this week was Ant Snell, with a splendid view of Trump Baby - an apparently perfect fit with the viewpoint and perspective of the scene, which is surprising because I wasn’t actually up a hill. Very neatly done.

I enjoyed DavidMac's barbells, with a thoughtfully-calculated shadow. Clever mirroring of the openings of the air pumps, and the darkening of the lower half really works well. An ingenious perpetual motion machine in the second entry - did you build this from scratch? Fun reading how it works.

A curious first image from lwc, with a banana-powered monkey and a gyrating unicyclist. I like the subtle pumping movement of the monkey. A whole load of entries clustered into the second entry slideshow - a fantastic accomplishment, with so much to look at and such great ideas. I like the man with the kids and the pump in the trash best, but frankly there are so many to choose from… I really hope you didn’t have to cut out all those bicycle spokes manually. Do tell me you found them like that! And I enjoyed the animated versions of a couple of the scenes. A splendid alien encounter in the fourth entry - except the man with his back to us isn’t facing the alien, but the tree. Fabulous lighting effects in the fifth entry.

A clever nod to The Seven Year Itch from dwindt, the boy being passed a dollar by Tom Ewell to man the pump - there’s a whole movie in this image. Ingeniously conceived, and well executed - although Marilyn’s head does look a little flattened.

Air-filled lettering from GKB, spelling PITCH - what on earth can it mean? Time to check out the animated version… ha ha did you model the Trump Baby yourself? I love how it drifts around in the background. Aha - and that’s where the PITCH comes in! Glorious. i like the deflation.

A serene beach scene from tooquilos, with an inflatable swan floating in an inflatable paddling pool. A fabulous animated title in the animated version, and great extra elements - the running and rising water, the waves in the background. The inflating swan scene is especially well devised - very convincing! And I like how it floats on the waves afterwards.

A nicely composed portrait scene from Ben Mills, although the lighting of the woman taking the picture is quite different from that of the woman sitting on the air pump. Matching her shadow to the one on the left would be tricky - but at the very least a shadow beneath her would help:

An ingenious repurposing of the air pump as a bass drum from Mariner, with a well realised outdoor band. The drummer looks familiar. I suspect most of the work here, though, went into rebuilding the bottom half of the casino in the background - an amazingly good accomplishment!

A subtle close-up from srawland, with a tiny view of the interior of the pump - where there appears to be a sleeping man with a bicycle pump. You really have to look hard to see it! Now if it could be a hamster wheel, I’d understand…

Terrific dancers from Frank, complete with gyrating shadows - and I really like how the handle goes up and down. And a third showing for Trump Baby this week! That must be a record! Splendid, Frank. So much entertainment in your animations.

Re: Challenge 771: Air apparent
Thanks Steve. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and thanks to DavidMac for pushing me to go the extra mile with the deflation. Can I lay claim in the history books to have been the first person to deflate Trump?

I didn’t create the 3D Baby Trump which I found on-line, but I would like to create a Boris Blimp so that I can animate him drifting off into the distance on 1st November.

Off on my hols on Tuesday to Puglia for a couple of weeks so may not have time for ‘the moat ‘ FC

True. But a lot of work also went into cutting out and polishing the musicians, especially the drummer and his kit. This was a very enjoyable and demanding challenge which kept me busy for many hours.
Thanks Steve.

Thanks Steve for the kind inspiration - as Sara says " I'm still learning"
- Thanks Sara for the heads up, I have declined some material and will include credits as per artist's requests - rather than just the site
- Thanks Gordon, coming along slowly and oftentimes get hung up on how to accomplish a task - UTube not always helpful - didn't realize we used the same Trump
- Loyd - don't know how you come up with all the ideas - I have trouble at times with ascertaining one theme
- David - ingenious machines you come up with

I only had to cut out six with spokes, some others were leftovers from the 'cyclists' challenge from May of 2018. At least one of them was on a white background...

Thanks Steve!

Well done everybody

Thanks for the kind words Steve. Yes, I lost so much resolution from getting the image small enough to post. On jpeg save baseline standard quality level 1, it was still to big. I had to drop the dpi's to 70 resulting in the image losing a great deal of detail.

I found some bits ready made and modelled the rest myself. It's very crudely done but it was more about idea than execution. I didn't have the time to do that justice.

Silly question Dennis but are you using ‘Save for Web’?
