Thanks David. I was a bit dubious about this one.

David, you are right: cosplay does get you some weird results. Wiktionary says it's short for "costume play".

Re: Challenge 809: The coffin doll
First to treat the coffin this week was GKB, with an artfully created plastic-wrapped package. Fine choice of typography, and I like the chattering skulls.

A splendid setting from DavidMac, with an appropriately grisly cast of doll characters. The glow from the skill works well - although somehow I feel, there should be a shadow beneath it, even though it’s lit up. Just thinking of how the bulb would be mounted inside. Fascinating to see the scene without the shading.

A beautifully constructed animation from lwc, with a floating doll - and that swirling smoke is perfectly judged. Great timing, almost as if she’s breathing. And a funny second entry, with horror classics: you’ve had fun with this one. Maybe a different background?

A fantasy in pink from Frank, with the coffin settling perfectly onto the caret in front. The added girl fits very well in there, her hand neatly grasping the doll. Perfect, Frank.

A cute doll selection from Vibeke: the one sitting on the coffin is nicely posed, with her hand supporting her at the4 back. And a splendid background - so much pink!

A fun entry from JimH, with a cast of Lego characters digging graves - and that’s a remarkably convincing Lego hearse in the background. The addition of Lego Dracula in the neatly-opened coffin is really good. Looks like you’ve got the measure of this Forum, Jim!

A whole toyshop worth of dolls from tooquilos, perched behind the coffin. I couldn’t;’t work out why one of the dolls in the animated version was moving so jerkily until I noticed the stairs behind her - cute! Great bats, and I like how the dog is digging up the coffin. Somehow, Anna, I’m really surprised you don’t own one of these.

Perfect matching of perspective from srawland, the coffin neatly filling a space on the ground floor. But people really make those dolls’ houses? For, er, kids to play with? Um.

So michael sinclair is blowing things up again. It’s actually rather nicely done, with a travelling spark and a masked fuse wire behind it - and I recognise that background from a Challenge some months ago. So I take it this one wasn’t to your liking, Michael?

A vast array of ghoulish dolls from Mariner, all apparently happily partying, and ignoring the one who has collapsed in the foreground. I almost didn’t notice how you’d rotated the angle of view of the coffin - subtle work.

A return to the Forum by Tabbykatt, with a fantastic and complex piece of work - I love the burnt baby, the smoking teen and that weird doll in the foreground. And a fine view through the window, too. So… are you the Photoshop artist formerly known as Tabitha? Welcome home! It’s been 13 years!

Thank you Steve
As a matter of fact, I do have several of these dolls including the house which is stored, in a box, in the spare room

Yes. I messed with that when I was creating it. Couldn't get it to work properly!

The only way I could was-to create a shadow inside the lower part of the lamp itself and then echo it. Rather in the same way I have done with the brown colour around the base.

Somehow I just couldn't pull it off convincingly, so I left it as it was.

Thanks Steve. I really enjoyed this one.

Yes I am she... and Oh my days has it really been that long 😱
I know its been a while as I was quite shocked how easy using the pen tool has become in the intervening decade!

I was so happy to see the Friday Challenge is still up and running, I am using the How to Cheat books to introduce my teens to the joys of Photoshop now so I hope you don't mind if they join in the challenges too? Although I'm a bit concerned that I made Elon Musk look like a teenager 🤣🤣 I should become his publicist lol

People really do make these doll houses and most that were posted were very detailed much like Anna's house. I don't think children were meant to play with those. It took me a while to find one that was both the right perspective and more "child's toy" looking.
