Re: Challenge 810: Peppa's boat
First to launch the boat this week was DavidMac, with a splendid cartoon sea - and the way the bear’s hand is gripping the steering wheel is perfect. Beautifully done. A fine second entry, too, with Boris heading over the waterfall… I wonder, is there any way to indicate that the boat is going backwards? Perhaps if it was tilted back towards the cliff edge?

A semi-submerged boat from lwc, with rippling flag and splashing waves. I suspect it should rock back and forth, as well as moving up and down. I loved the second entry, reminding me of a 1990s screensaver. The waving plants and rising bubbles really make it. The third entry is somewhat more sinister, with its darker tone; but the reflection of the girl’s face works well. A fitting finale in the fourth entry!

Peppa Pig and some piggy man with glasses (I’m not a devotee) from GKB, the boat now sporting a pirate flag. A gloriously wafting flag in the animated version, although I curse you for having stuck that song in my head all week. A glorious third entry, complete with distortions. Going to have to nudge you on the perspective, though.

It’s a boat, from michael sinclair - not my boat, of course, but a different boat. I’m sure there must be a reason. A fine animated sea, Michael, but why doesn’t the boat go up and down with the wave?

Sea stories galore from JimH, with Cap’n Jack Sparrow fending off a not-so-giant squid, while Godzilla creeps up in the background. And you’re saying that pink blob in the foreground is a real fish? Um. Possibly best not deep fried with chips.

Artfully built packaging from tooquilos - is this a real object? Very hard to tell. I like how it and the map jump out of the box in the animated version, and the scene with a 3D pig is terrific. Maybe tuck the pirate’s legs entirely behind the treasure chest so he doesn’t swivel? A great story, imaginatively told.

A beautifully detailed entry from Mariner, who has turned a regular fishing boat into a simulation of the Peppa Pig boat. I like how the Peppa flag flies from the radio antenna - and the addition of Prince Andrew is a very neat touch. I think the wheelhouse could do with dirtying up a little, though.

A glorious fantasy from Frank, with the boat - now fully crewed - lashed to a leaping whale. There’s a load of action here, with nicely judged water splashes and a great sense of movement. Excellent.

The children in Vibeke's boat fit absolutely perfectly - did you pose and photograph them specially? If not it’s an extraordinary piece of luck finding them from that angle. Just one point: adding a shadow would more firmly place that boat in its surroundings:

I’m deeply intrigued by srawland's entry, which has me completely stumped. Have you modified an existing boat? Or did you find this all in one piece? What I’m saying is, I can’t see any evidence of photo manipulation here. Which, frankly, is something of a compliment.

Oh yes! Great. Increased danger too. Thanks.

Re: Challenge 810: Peppa's boat
Thanks Steve, absolutely right about the shadow.
The children are my grandchildren, 2 different photos, one taken in 2006 and the other in 2009.
I have a great program for searching my photos across my different drives.

HA! I wondered whether you would be fooled by this image. The boat is in the back.

Thanks Steve

During the editing process you have to replay parts of the sequence to get everything in sync; after a few replays I just had to turn the sound off I couldn’t stand it anymore
