Anna. I haven't heard of Boxing kangaroos since I was kid! Never knew if they were for real or not.

That made me laugh out loud. It's also extremely cute.

Mariner. The type just perfect. Did you do it in photoshop or import it from a vector App?

Perfection was my aim, David.
I found the graphic on the net. I extracted the gradient part from all the letters, filled them with red, cleaned them up, created a J and a Y from scratch, copied the O and E to make JOEY, and deleted the D and spare E. Then I flattened the red layer, duplicated it, expanded it by 5 pixels, filled it with white, added a 2 pixel black stroke, and put it behind the red layer. Then, using a marquee I selected the bottom half of the red letters, feathered it by 20 pixels and used an HSL adjustment to change their hue to yellow. Then I merged all the text together which allowed me to add a black drop shadow in one go. Of course, the DUN JOEy text was now better than the CROCODILE text so I did the same to that as well.
.
Too much information?

Since you and Gordon advised me on Affinity a long time ago I have not touched Photoshop, and rarely missed it. I do not feel in the least bit guilty about this, especially when I see all the animation people doing things which are hardly Photoshop.

Almost. But I get the drift. I did something very similar (but less complex) with my MGM Logo. Couldn't find a typeface close enough so invented the missing letters by eye and matched the gradient fill by eye. Not as precisely you it has to be said.

I think photoshop is just where this group originated. We've all added new ideas, skills or apps in one way or another. What matters is that we are improving our graphics skills in various ways with the criticism and guidance of a Guru we respect.

I use Affinity for photo correction or 'grading' as we call it in movie. I prefer it to PS for this. But, despite my dislike of subscription-ware, I find PS better for compositing.

The Affinity series are so inexpensive I presume you have Designer as well. It combines seamlessly with Photo. I don't do much with vector but, when I do, I vastly prefer it to Illustrator.

Horses for courses.

I love the word "seamlessly". I do not have Designer and use vector quite a bit. I think I will get it now you have written that.

The boxing kangaroo logo is mainly used as a sporting mascot. It has its own flag.

On a whole, kangaroos are fairly non confrontational and prefer to hop away when approached. However, if they feel threatened or cornered, their boxing abilities can be a force to be reckoned with.

Kangaroos are huge and very powerful. What most people call a kangaroo is actually a Wallaby, which is a great deal smaller and much more placid.

Skippy the Bush Kangaroo was in fact a Wallaby!

Perhaps little Joey is a Wannabe Wallaby.

Both Designer and Photo can directly open each others native files, without special importing, and apply their particular toolset to them.

If both apps are running you can zap the file you are working on back and forth between them 'live' without even having to save.

Doesn't get much more seamless than that.

I think Gordon"s done quite a bit with designer. He may be able to tell you more.

David. Wow! What a huge app! And only £48. It will keep me busy learning from the tutorials during the lockdown and far beyond.
Thanks for that.

Re: Challenge 832: Meet Joey
Nice bit of history there David. Thanks.

and a very good laugh at Michael's tiny 'roo in his own pouch...lol.

Loyd, Swagman image is a very good choice. Nicely put together.

Oh no David. did Rolf play a Cosby on the scene. We'll have to send Loyd's monster Joey to jump him!

Good one Vibeke...I think. Definitely looks crispy. Do they eat kangaroos down under?

Lovely motion in your running 'roo Michael.

Great kango-chameleon Josephine. I love the tribal paints.

B17 / B25 - kids these days wouldn't know the difference Loyd. They'll think it is a move in the game of Battleship.

Nice precise neat image Mariner

Like your clip Anna. Men at work did well in S.A. aswell. Really enjoyed their music.

Funny picture Vibeke, love it. Is that Uluru in the back ground. Ive been trying to do a 3D scene with it in over the last couple days.

Jim, your kanga-devil really jumped the nonsense out of that city.

Good one Mariner. First thing I thought of was "hop on!"

Seeing as Anna is from down under and Vebeke from next door and i'm sure, many of you others who have experienced the sight of Uluru or Ayers Rock, I hope I have done it justice.

A really wanted a png of a wattle tree but couldn't find one. Then again, who in their right mind would want to give a png of a wattle tree away. Have you seen the amount of tiny leaves it carries.

Have to call this - Are we there yet

Joey says to mom "Ay ers far mum!"

Hi Dennis, you have certainly captured the outback feeling in your image. The colours and the ambience are spot on.

However, there are no trees around Uluru I was there about 30 years ago and have never seen so much nothing in my life! As far as the eye can see - flat and nothing - apart from the odd low lying shrub, dying grass and this huge monolith coming out of the ground. But that being said, it is still one of the most breathtaking sights I have ever seen.

Re: Challenge 832: Meet Joey
Thanks Anna and Vibeke. I was under the impression that it was surrounded by desert. Stretches of orange sand and very little else until I looked it up. It seems to have become more semi arid. Maybe with the amount of people that are attracted to this amazing sight, more habitat is encouraging growth. Have no idea but i'd love to see it. It must be amazing.

OMG Dennis ..... an image without a Daz figure! Or is that a Dazeroo?

I can't comment on botanical correctness but I find it a very satisfying image. I love the way Mama's head is turned away.
